Pearce is such a proven non-performer at Origin level, his continued selection is becoming farcical.

Merrit wasn't the main problem in defence, it was the blokes defending inside him...we were outnumbered downt he right allllll night and he did what he could with some pretty massive overlaps. The try he let in was the only real mistake he made. Won't play again anyway.

There was an outcry to pick him 2 years ago when he was in some sort of club form.
They resisted but go with him now when he isnt in the top 15 wingers in the comp.

The step up from first grade finds mamy out.
Merrit now jijns tjat list with the likes of pearce and carney.

Blokes like Greg Bird who actuall play better in these games...u pick 17 of them and worry about positions in camp.

100%. That's why Bird would be my 6 for the decider. I don't care if he's a backrower at club level. He's been proven in SOO and in tests that he is a dead set, Wally Lewis style 6 in rep matches. 5 games for NSW and Aus for 4 wins and 3 M.O.M.s

Is there anywhere you can go to see Mitchell Pearce's stats at Origin level?
I would love to see how many try assists he has.
None in game 1, and none in game 2 this year.
I would be shocked if it was above 3 or 4 in his 11 game career.
Then show me Cronk's.
Ask and ye shall receive:

Mitchell Pearce
4 Try Assists
7 offloads
3 line breaks
9 tackle breaks
580 touches/receives
45 runs
327 metres gained
9 handling errors
2 penalties conceded
228 tackles made
16 1 on 1 tackles made
11 Ineffective tackles
43 missed tackles
87 kicks
3016 kick metres

It's worth noting that Carney had 2 try assists in his 3 games of 2012.

Cooper Cronk - You must remember, his first 6 games he came off the bench and played between 17 and 29 mins in those 6 games)

5 Try Assists
2 offloads
3 line breaks
10 tackle breaks
277 touches/receives
61 runs
411 metres gained
2 handling errors
2 penalties conceded
191 tackles made
16 1 on 1 tackles made
9 Ineffective tackles
18 missed tackles
59 kicks
1878 kick metres

Not as much difference as was expected.....Cronk is heaps better though.

Stats don't always tell the full story.

To give it some perspective, Cronk's 6 games on the bench essentially gave Pearce a 333 minute head start (just over 4 games worth). The majority of Cronk's attack stats are from his last 5 games

Also, Cronk plays alongside Thurston who is also a very dominant ball player.
In the NSW team, Pearce needs to kind of step up more because he plays next to Soward, Carney, Maloney etc who are all decent enough players, but don't have the brilliance of Thurston.

How many full games has Cronk started at HB though?
6?

6 off the bench, 5 in the starting side.
2010 - Game 1 - bench - 17 mins
2010 - Game 2 - bench - 25 mins
2010 - Game 3 - bench - 26 mins
2011 - Game 1 - bench - 28 mins
2011 - Game 2 - bench - 22 mins
2011 - Game 3 - bench - 29 mins

In Cronk's last 5 games (and his only 5 full games at halfback) his stats read
4 Try Assists
2 offloads
2 line breaks
7 tackle breaks
210 touches/receives
36 runs
253 metres gained
1 handling error
2 penalties conceded
106 tackles made
13 1 on 1 tackles made
6 Ineffective tackles
12 missed tackles
55 kicks
1763 kick metres

yeah felt sorry for him on that score. Stay on inglis & make him take the extra pass.
Daley cannot coach & cannot select.
Bring back Sticky.

I am not sure where Daley came up with that theory,
Smallest bloke on field rush up out of line on the biggest bestest player in the universe.
Leaving a massive overlap and at no time ever having any chance tackling mr universe anyway.

Can a coach be dumb enough to tell a player to do this?

Was stu raper the wing coach?

Well he admitted to it.
