Now with all the money we were prepared to throw at Lyon to solve our five-eighth problem, surely we could match any club with an offer for Hunt. I know he is unproven in the halves but he is young enough and most definitely talented enough to make the transition.

Why not make a big play at him and see what comes of it....give him first crack at the #6 and give him some time to develop there. it may take a season or so...but we have been waiting for 20 seasons now, why not a few more?

I agree completely. Hunt definitely has the 'talent' to make it at 5/8 i just hope he realises it and goes to a club willing to give him a shot there.

I guess they had to keep him, considering they've let go of Bull. Ryles won't pick up the slack.

Poore Re-signs for Three Years
28 June 2006

St George Illawarra Front Rower Justin Poore has today agreed to terms with the Club for a further three seasons, until the end of the 2009 season.

The local junior began his career with the Helensburgh Tigers, making his NRL debut in Round 1 of the 2004 season, playing 59 games since this time.

Poore, 21, has established his place in the Dragons first grade team and is looking forward to continuing to lead the team from the front for the next three years.

“The Dragons are a great Club and I am absolutely stoked to be staying,” said Poore. “I am a local junior who has been given great opportunities and here is where I want to remain”.

“I feel really happy and comfortable in this environment both with my football and with my family and friends around,” added Poore. “I know I will play my best football here”.

St George Illawarra Chief Executive Officer Peter Doust said he was pleased to finalise Poore’s arrangements with the Club.

“Justin is a durable athlete who contributes greatly to our teams’ performance every week,” said Doust. “He is a key component of our team moving forward and I am very pleased that he has chosen to stay, as he could potentially have received more money at other Clubs”.

Dragons Coach Nathan Brown was equally as pleased to retain his powerful forward.

“Justin is tough competitor who continues to develop and improve each week and I am very happy he will remain a Dragon,” said Brown. “Covering the loss of a player the calibre of Luke Bailey is never going to be easy, but I am confident Justin will continue to step-up and lead our team forward”.

Sims Re-signs for Two Years
28 June 2006

Sims re-signed today with the Dragons

St George Illawarra Backrower Ashton Sims has today agreed to terms with the Club for a further two seasons, until the end of the 2008 season.

Sims, 21, began his rugby league career in Gerringong and has played 57 NRL games since making his debut in Round 9 of the 2003 season.

This season started well for the local junior when he was named in the Australian Train-On Squad in January, but a wrist injury has sidelined him since Round 10, with his return to the field expected in Round 20.

“I am very happy to have my future sorted, especially given that I have missed so many games of late,” said Sims. “I grew-up in this area and am very happy here at the Dragons.

“I wanted to remain at the Dragons and am grateful to have this opportunity”.

St George Illawarra Coach Nathan Brown said he was happy to know that Sims would be a part of his squad for the next two years.

“Ashton is a talented and skillful player who fits well with our team and structure,” said Brown. “We are sure he will continue to improve and I am pleased that he has chosen to remain with us for the next two seasons”.

Dragons Chief Executive Officer Peter Doust said he was happy to have finalised Sims’s immediate future with the Club.

“Ashton is another outstanding local junior that we are delighted to have him remain with our Club,” said Doust. “We believe he has accepted less money than what he could attract on the open market to remain a Dragon”.

THROW everything at Creagh.... don't let him go to Manly!!!

We need at least on prop though. I would say Asotasi but we would probably have to throw over 400k a season at him.

Well the 66-0 last week may have made Roy think twice about going to the Bunnies. The Rorters were also rumoured as a favourite, but they are a club in crisis at the moment (refer DT).

Lucky we are only in a small crisis. :sarcasm: Come on over Roy !:D

1. We need a hell of a lot more than one forward to resign
2. If I was nervous last week, I am terrified now!
