He is definitely heading to England in the next two weeks but as part of the Tongan side that will be playing. Fui signed a two year deal early in the season and is definitely at the club next season.

Maybe if he didn't make the Tonga team, he would've had an offseason in the UK since he's been out of football for such a long time.

St Helens, favourites for Saturday's Super League Grand Final, have underlined their domination of the domestic season with a clean sweep of the game's major individual awards.

Saints' Great Britain full-back, Paul Wellens, was named last night as Man of Steel. His team, who meet Hull at Old Trafford, also have the Young Player of the Year in the forward, James Graham, who is also in Great Britain's squad for the Tri-Nations this autumn.

Another Saint, James Roby, was on the shortlist for that award, along with Wigan's full-back Chris Ashton. Daniel Anderson is Coach of the Year, having steered Saints to the Challenge Cup, the League Leaders' Trophy and the Grand Final in his first full season.

He held off Karl Harrison, who guided Salford to fifth in Super League and into the play-offs for the first time, and Brian Noble, who led Wigan to safety as well as winning the World Club Challenge with Bradford.

The advance guard of Noble's Great Britain squad, minus the players involved in the Grand Final, flies out to Sydney today to prepare for the friendly against a Newcastle XIII on 20 October. The 18-man party, which will be augmented by the Australian-based Brian Carney and Adrian Morley, includes Salford's Andy Coley, who has been promoted from the stand-by squad in place of Paul Johnson, who has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

Warrington's Ben Westwood and Paul King of Hull, have also been drafted into the stand-by squad for the injured Stephen Wild and Andy Lynch. New Zealand, who begin their defenceagainst Australia this Saturday, will be without David Solomona for the tournament. The Wakefield forward has an arm injury.

Promoted Hull KR will begin their recruitment for Super League this week, with their coach, Justin Morgan, admitting that they need to expand their squad. "We most probably need 10 to 12 signings," he said.

Two players being linked with Rovers are the scrum-half at relegated Castleford, Danny Brough, and the Parramatta prop, Fui Fui Moi Moi. Cas' second-rower, Willie Manu, has joined Hull on a two-year deal.

Both Hull's Horne brothers, Richard and Graeme, will be fit for the Grand Final after minor injuries.

Warrington's Kiwi forward, Logan Swann, is to rejoin the New Zealand Warriors on a one-year contract, while Toa Kohe-Love, Mark Hilton, Danny Lima and Paul Noone have all been released by the Wolves. Shane Millard is expected to join Wigan after being released by Leeds.

ROBINS PLAN TRIPLE MOVE

Hull Kr are on the verge of a triple swoop as they form their survival plan for their first season in Super League.

Rovers are interested in signing Parramatta prop Fuifui Moi Moi, Castleford's Ryan McGoldrick and Leeds Rhinos Mark O'Neill with chief executive Paul Lakin admitting the trio are on a shopping list of 16 players.

But only two of the three can be signed with club skipper James Webster already filling one of the three overseas slots.

The Mail understands the third signing could be an un-named Super League player.

Lakin is hoping to complete several signings by next week as Justin Morgan targets as many as 10 players.

O'Neill is now a free agent after an injury-hit first season at Headingley where he only played four times for the Rhinos since his move from West Tigers.

During his stint with Wests the second-row forward captained them to Grand Final glory.

"We have not done deals with any player yet," Lakin told the Mail. "We're going to be linked with a lot of players over the next few days and weeks. The players mentioned are on a list of about 16 players that Justin has enquired about. Mark is available as he is a free agent and he could be a possibility."

O'Neill broke his leg before the start of the season and made just four appearances for the Rhinos.

Centre McGoldrick was a key player for Cas and played in the relegation decider against Wakefield that the Tigers lost 29-17. In 18 appearances for Castleford, he crossed for five tries and scored eight goals.

With all the other Super League sides having filled their quota spots, Rovers appears to be the perfect destination for McGoldrick.

Moi Moi has made 23 appearances for Parramatta, scoring five tries, and was suspended for seven weeks after being sent off for a high tackle in June.

Whatever happens, I wouldn't wish Mark O'Neill on any team, let alone the Robins!!

Morgan is hopeless if he honestly thinks Fui would be a good signing for them. They already have two overweight unfit (but damaging) fowards, I know Fui's fitness is improving but he's still unfit and carrying 3 fowards who struggle to make the 20 minute mark in a team that will struggle to avoid relegation regardless is insane.

Speaking of insane, would Denis (and Hagan) actually consider releasing him? They should be shot if they do, Fui is so vital to our chances next year.

Hopefully Fui doesn't end up like Morley..... wanting to go to UK to avoid all the loading on them at judiciary hearings

PARRAMATTA prop Fuifui Moimoi has been targeted to join former Wests Tigers captain Mark O'Neill as a major recruit for newly promoted Super League club Hull Kingston Rovers.
Coached by former Eels, Warriors and Canberra back-rower Justin Morgan, Hull KR are in the market for up to 12 new signings after gaining entry into the northern hemisphere's top-flight competition by beating Widnes in the National League One grand final.
O'Neill, who joined Leeds after the Tigers' 2005 grand final win, has agreed to a one-year deal with Rovers and British reports have linked the club with bids for Moimoi, New Zealand back-rower Awen Guttenbeil and former Cronulla back Ryan McGoldrick, whose Castleford side has been relegated from Super League.
Parramatta officials were yesterday unaware of any approach for Moimoi but the Tonga international is heading to England next week to play against Samoa in a Test likely to decide which of the island nations qualifies for the 2008 World Cup.
Beaten last week by a Wes Naiqama-inspired Fiji, Tonga must win the October 22 clash in Leeds to earn one of the two Pacific berths for the World Cup, while Samoa cannot afford to lose by more than six points.
With so much at stake, both countries are trying to shore up their playing stocks ahead of the match. Former Warriors winger Henry Fa'afili is likely to join a Samoa squad captained by Newcastle centre George Carmont and including Cronulla prop Hutch Maiava and Manly forward Kylie Leuluai.

yes he did he re-sign and the important thing about what's been written is officials don't know anything about it.

I'd be absolutely shocked and astounded if we were to release him from his contract, i simply can't see it happening, despite the apparent interest by HKR.

join the bandwagon said:
Fitzy will not release him! Hell he didnt release him for one game for New Zealand
this is quite possibly the most logical statement jtb has ever made on this forum  - agreed 110%, Fui is too important for us right now and his NRL career is just getting going

altho he'd probably do well out of it financially, I suspect Fui might prefer to stay in sydney for now too - from all accounts he's a big family man and might not want to leave his relos (of course this is just my opinion - I'm more than likely to be wrong - expect him wanting a release within the week )

just hope he doesn't put the X on another contract, ala Melbourne Storm.

can't see him getting a release when we are short on frontrow depth.

maybe a slow news day in England?

You can't blame Hull for sounding out players. Lets face it we did release Dave V a while back.

FFMM hopefully conceeds that he owes us to a certain degree. He was plucked out of Bunnies PL and was taught the ropes and now has a new fit body and a pretty impressive pay packet I am sure.

Its not drawing a long bow IMHO to suggest that without us he would be playing park footy right now.
