I honestly do.Rating just don't rise like that in such a short period.

The other thing is the old regional ratings made sense because most of regional Australia is in NSW and Qld.
Now we are expected to think the people of Newcastle, Tamworth, Toowoomba, Townsville, Sunshine Coast, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie etc have just started watching a lot more AFL in the last 18 months??

Id suggest the concerted development work by that code is now paying dividends in the form of tv ratings as well as participation.
This is not to say that if rugby league gets their development act into gear and becomes proactive that things won't turn around. But they need to do this quickly. Leaguetag competitions in the PSSA should be a priority for the state school systems and selling the games virtues of commitment, confidence building and discipline should be a pivotal theme of recruiting the young ones.

Stop avoiding the real issues the game is facing. Play the ball not the man.
Here's a fact you ignore
The top 5 rating shows of the year ....
How many Rl games are in there
How many AFL games .

Then do some research & you may find out RL is the most watched sport in this country by a fair way .

But that doesn't suit your agenda so all you do is bitch .

Apathy doesn't mean you can mortgage an opinion. What I have stated reflects a growing presence of one code in our own backyard with RL doing very little with poorly targeted development work. RL has the opportunity to win back these people going to other codes. It has proved it is very resilient and can attract more juniors in Victoria. Its time regional areas in NSW and inner city areas are targeted effectively.

I like the message you have with these traits. But are they really selling points for the game when you can pretty much say these are traits of all sports?

Not really to the extent at which rugby league has. The shear physical contact and intensity of rugby league is a greater source for increased confidence, commitment and discipline. Other codes are not as intense in contact as rugby league and this should be publicised as a strength this code has above all other football codes. Its not being sold in the right way as a character building sport in my eyes.

Bullshit
You are ignoring facts
You talk about AFL participation ..like its gospel

I told you where to find the truth
The LAWSON REPORT.
An independent report done about AFL in NSW .
It was damming ..
So much so that another was never done & Lawson was hired by the AFL .

One way to stop the truth getting out
Hire the bloke who exposed the bullshit ....

Yet now you're waffling on with some other shit .
If you're not prepared to discuss your bullshit claims
f**k off

I am informing of what I am seeing in schools. Their is much more presence of the "training run" than in years gone by. It has targeted rugby league heartland areas and has made an impression. I'm not saying its a better code! Far from it! Rugby league is far superior in my opinion as a character building football code than all others. I do believe that RL is underselling itself and is underachieving as a result. For instance the development people are only servicing areas that they know and are ignoring inner city areas. Id like to see a concerted effort to all areas not just heartland areas. The game is far better than many doing development work are thinking.

I’m the middle of last year channel 9 signed a regional deal with southern cross and got rid of WIN. Bruce Gordon seemed to be playing hard ball and was expecting to get channel 10. I feel the problem could be with the sc deal. Southern cross in different regions play 7 programming. I think channel 9 going from WIN to SCA has lessened our reach. I have tried to find info to back up my claim but as usual info is hard to come by.
You're 100% right, mate.

Southern Cross (which is now Nine programming) has only a 19% share of regional TV while WIN (which is now Ten programming) has 38.4%. That is the key reason for the drop in NRL ratings this year. Nothing to do with the NRL or the commission at all.

3. SoO2 - 3,452,000
4. NRL GF - 3,399,000
5. SoO3 - 2,521,000 (could not find regional ratings)

The discussion was the gf viewing figures, which we lost for second year in a row. Add into that that we lost most of the finals weeks games tv viewings and we are seeing an emerging pattern that should be a big concern. but yeh origin still rates well so all is good.

Are the regular season overall figures out yet?
