No idea where this should go, but here’s an example of how close this competition is.

Round 9 Accumulator backing the underdogs as of Wednesday 1430 is;
BB 4.50 x CBB 1.95 x PE 4.30 x WT 5.00 x GCT 3.60 x NK 5.20 x STI 11.00 x NZW 5.00.

A $194,246.91 return per $1 investment.

Conversely, backing the favourites will net you $5.77. 🥳

Dare I say it, but even this early it is looking like the top 8 might be getting ready to settle itself barring any massive injury drama during Origin season (Manly losing Turbo, Broncos losing Reynolds, Parra losing Moses etc)

Melbourne and Penrith will duel for 1st and 2nd all season but nothing lower, the Sharks and Rorters will fight back into 3rd and 4th respectively, then 5th to 8th will be any combination of Parra, Broncos, Cowboys and Manly. The Rabbits remain the only wildcard with a decent F/A in that huddle around 8th-10th but on current form you wouldn't think they make it.

Hmm yes now that the Broncos are in the 8, the top 8 is settled. Very astute.

This year has been the most enjoyable footy in years IMO. Its not perfect but the NRL has the rules at a level which is giving us a lot of close contests. League is one of those funny sports where a horrible standard of game can still end up being incredibly exciting and drama filled at the end.

It looks like a 2 horse race for the Title however power houses of the last few years in Souths, Easts and Manly are stuggling and it wouldnt be surprising if one or more miss the 8, 2 sides who missed the 8 last year are in the top 4 whilst 2 who made the 8 are in the bottom 4. Its the begining of a transition period and next year will likley see even more of this with Storm, Panthers and Eels all losing key players.

I do see this year as being a year that a bottom team can get a run of momentum in the back half of the year and make the finals. Either way I doubt the top 8 will be wrapped up like the last few years and wouldnt suprise me if with 2 or 3 weeks to go a heap of sides could finish from anywhere 6th-12th.

It’s the school sport approach lol, take the players from the best clubs, give them to the crap clubs and everyone gets a go at being good.

where we all at now…. My Sharks finishing 2nd prediction isn’t looking too far off….

Im going to say now, Sharks win it! We beat Panthers to get to the GF, and beat Storm in the GF***

*** I may have had far too many spiced rum and cokes before typing, but it is ON!!!

They'll finish 3rd & a trip to Townsville in week one of the finals , winnable ... they don't fear the cowboys or that trip in particular
but who knows eh ...

But 3rd for the Sharks

They’ll finish 2nd… Sharks won’t lose a game here on in (playing bottom 8 for rest of regular season)* - Cowboys will lose to Roosters, Souths and Panthers!

*and will win the whole thing

I have no effing idea who finishes under 3rd tho
10 points left
most contenders play each other in these final 5 weeks so it could be anyone of the
Storm , Broncos , Parra, Roosters or Souths , but at the same time the hellish run in for a few of those sides could equally have them dumped out completely

Manly are a club divided , can't polish that turd . Its events off the field that have cruelled their season & this & their tough draw will see them miss out IMO.
The Raiders sitting pretty with a candy draw , but their rep for shitting the bed is legendary & only time will tell if Stick can get them to focus on the job at hand & take that spot .. 7th or 8th.
