Have to take issue at a few things Kent said in the early segment tonight:

Firstly not all AFL players get 'a spare seat' on interstate flights. I know that because earlier this year I saw 20 GWS players bunched together on a flight I was on from Melbourne.

Second issue is on Souths apparently getting a favourable draw over NQ. To that I ask, has any other team in the last decade had to play 3 consecutive regular season interstate matches as we had to do between Rounds 20 and 22?

The NRL deserves criticism for a lot that took place over the weekend, but talking crap just to push a News agenda is getting tedious.

I can't speak for those things that Kent doesn't have quite right, but I must admit it is bloody refreshing sometimes when he comes out and just gives it to the NRL when they deserve it. Particularly tonight as far as the way they handled the Thurston/Henry comments, he called it straight down the line as to what it was: gutless and unfair.

Watching all those shows you get used to these blokes just giving the standard patsy answers but at least Kent doesn't normally follow the company line so to speak.

In case you haven't noticed the company line is to bag the f**k out of the NRL and rugby league in general.

Kent is just one of many News Limited hacks that continue to do this.

Fair enough with the News Limited brigade, that may be their company line and I have noticed that with Kent, but I was referring to how he provides something different from the other guys on the various TV panel shows (360, Sterlo, Sunday Footy Show etc), who let's be honest, generally lead to the more positive side of the game and will most of the time present it in a good light. The majority of the guys on these shows are ex-players who most of the time don't offer much in the way of insight and criticism but are more likely to just say the regular clichés.

Kent is by no means a perfect host and is in all probability a bit of a tool but like I said, at least he just came out and said the NRL were being inept and gutless when it needed to be said, which you're not going to get from a Gasnier or a Fittler, or even a quality analyst like Sterlo.

I agree that we need ex-players who are not afraid to speak. Tallis is one of those, but I cannot cop his woeful abuse of the english language. A 5 year-old would speak better.

Kent and Ikin do a decent job and 360 is one of the better shows. In saying that, Kent toes the News Ltd line just like the rest of them (we both agree on this). Kent is far better on tv than Ritchie or that smug Hooper.

Yeah can't cop much of Hooper, you could tell straight away on Sunday's Footy Show that he was practically salivating about making the 7th tackle try as big as deal as possible.

Can't cop more than a couple of minutes of Webster either.

Why are you hiding in this thread...? NRL DISCUSSION section is far more interesting and volatile.

Yes he was grinning like a Cheshire cat the wanker. And wasn't he the one who co-wrote the mannah article?

Anyone watching live? Just now Kent got about one sentence into explaining what a lot of people have been saying about Brisbane's questionable recruitment tactics and Tallis jumped in straight away and started rambling about NSW picking Tamou . No idea, Kent then had to attempt to explain it to him like he was 5.

They get David Smith in their for a chat and all Kent wants to f**king talk about is that tired old Barba/Greenberg bullshit.

News Limited SUCK!!!

Tallis certainly went full-genius on this one.

I don't know what was dumber.......comparing the situation to Tamou playing for NSW or comparing Brisbane to Wollongong.

Coming back next season, so I suppose it rated fairly decently. Anyone else see the ending of the last episode last week? Ikin gave Kent a choreographed 'end of year' hand-shake that reminded me of something you'd see in a 1940s cartoon. :D

Just found this thread. I must say although Kent and Ikin aren't the most popular on here, I do enjoy it a lot more than the other shows and it's the only show I make an effort to watch.

One thing I do find a bit odd is how they bring the same guests on every week lol but it's hardly a big issue.

Turned it on tonight and heard Kent having a cry about people criticising the media about the handling of the McKinnon stuff, turned it off 10 seconds later. Sick of him being on his soapbox about treatment of the media. Stop being merkins and people might leave you alone.

I think Kent probably didnt agree with what Ch 9 did but he will not criticize a network or journalist publicly. Instead he'll try and make an excuse and back up whats being said. Remember last year's front page on how "Peptides may have cause Jon Mannah's death"? Ikin really took it personally and was fired up, while Kent was quiet and couldnt say much considering it was his employer that wrote the article.

On the show itself, next week they'll have the Legends Gordy Tallis and Blocker Roach.

I enjoyed it last time they were both one, so looking forward to this one.

They had a really good segment with the players about the media when Mason and Farah were on a few weeks ago and they got into whether players do enough to promote the game. It is good having players who will have opinions rather than give non-answers or rehearsed answers. The coaches are usually pretty good too, but I could do without the legends.
