Michael Ennis summed up so well. We basically lack leadership. The players are soft and they have given up. He spoke about how the Sharks lost 4 out of their last 5 games in 2016 and how as a group led by the leaders of the club they spoke about what a premiership meant to them. He reckons we should keep playing our power game and to use an excuse that they have run out of fuel is a cop out. I’m certain there was also a veiled criticism of Gutherson. Our Captain who has been shit for weeks now.

He was scathing on our forward pack and in particular Paulo, Brown and Papa. He also said that Moses, Dylan Brown and Sivo were a nothing burger and have been for some time.

If you get a chance make sure you watch this Sunday edition. It was excellent.

Yep. Lack of leadership within the squad has been an issue for a while now.

In fact, when was the last time we had a great leader at the club? You'd almost have to go back to Pay, Dymock, Smith etc.

Cayless was a pillow. Hayne was a pillock and Hindy was too self absorbed. Mannah tried hard but was a soft cock.

I’d be taking the captaincy off Gutherson next season and giving it to Mahoney.

Agreed with him up to the dig at Dylan's hair.. Dumb comment.

First time I've heard someone refer to titanium alloy as soft. Check yourself.

so I get BA and MON may not be best mates….

but to say the eels have a recruitment issue or there isn’t a lot of “footy intellect” is a huge piece of fake news….

I reckon we are one of the best at identifying cheapies to play NRL or as depth, over last 2 seasons:

Papa - cheap, great form
Opacic - cheap / solid
Cartwright - cheap / has turned career around
Lussick - solid back up
Hipgrave - solid back up
Davey - solid back up
Roache - development contract
Field - development contract
Rankin - development contract
Rodwell / Makatoa - solid NSW cup pick ups (both in QLD bubble)
Perham/Grieg - very promising rookies

not sure the club could do much more in recruiting fringe players …….

recruiting elite players is a lot different, as @Poupou Escobar has mentioned is about how much you are willing to play….

They also kept harping on about how we don't have an elite player.

Well, despite his age, Michael Jennings was elite.

Reed Mahoney is arguably one of the best 9's in the NRL.

Paulo played Origin.

I think our problem is that the team is in a rut, and in awful form, and nobody knows how to fix it.

Gutherson was never an elite-level talent, but he was a consistent 7 out of 10 performed, with the occasional 8 or 9 game.

But for the last 2 months, he's been a 4 out of 10, and several other key players have followed suit.

One thing Arthur does well is bring in fresh talent - Waqa Blake (despite his flaws) I'd a very talented player; RCG (despite being one-dimensional) is very, very good; Papali'i is obviously very good.

If we had Tedesco, Trobjevic, Ponga, etc. at fullback over Gutherson, or Staggs over Opacic at centre, would we have won more games in the last 4 weeks?

In my opinion, no - our biggest problems are lack of communication, and lack of trust in their teammates.

Our right edge on Saturday looked as frail as ever, and Oldfield was constantly out of position - he is an experienced player, and he still made poor plays (albeit a lot of them through having no other choice).

Our tactics are not suitable to the game in 2021.

They should put Moses on ice until the finals. I'm referring to frozen water, not illegal narcotics.
Hes injured but if Brthur brings in Jrthur he will be crucified then shot. I think our coach is probably nervous to play the boy.
I agree though. Put Moses on Ice. We cant lose 6th spot. Is BA playing Moses to try to keep the heat off himself?

How about put Dyl brown in charge at 7 and see if can take up more responsibility move cartwright or gutherson into 6. I would have said matto but he is suspended.

And put will smith at fullback if you move gutho there.

Try something it cant get any worse then the tripe we have dished up last 3 weeks
