Game would be a bit dull. Both teams would be putting up bombs all night, even if it’s not the last tackle.Korean Origin would be massive!

Because if the NRL has shown one thing, it's their ability to leverage TV ratings in their TV deals...But but but afl have record revenue
how can we ever compete
highest first round crowd average in ten years too
next tv deal discussion is going to be interesting
so many tv experts on league unlimited who know they can do betterBecause if the NRL has shown one thing, it's their ability to leverage TV ratings in their TV deals...
Doesn't take an expert to see when you give a broadcaster a discount only for them to then use those savings to buy the rights to Rugby and the Olympics, you're not a great negotiator.so many tv experts on league unlimited who know they can do better
vlandys should just assemble a team of experts from this forum to handle the tv negotiations
you and afl red are the first ones picked
What you're saying makes no sense.Doesn't take an expert to see when you give a broadcaster a discount only for them to then use those savings to buy the rights to Rugby and the Olympics, you're not a great negotiator.
The difference between you and me - I want to see the game do well. I want the game to grow, the players to be looked after, and I'm happy round one had great viewership. Rugby League is the greatest sport in the world - but time and time again, it is sold short by leadership. This happened before PVL and continues today.
You on the other hand want PVL to do well.
You seem to think you can run the game better than old PeteDoesn't take an expert to see when you give a broadcaster a discount only for them to then use those savings to buy the rights to Rugby and the Olympics, you're not a great negotiator.

NRL had a TV rights agreement with Nine. The NRL renegotiated with a lower money value - Nine then proceeded to buy the rights to Rugby. It's pretty simple. What you're saying makes no sense.
Firstly the last negotiation wasn't at an easy time. Secondly PVL leadership put the comp in this position- the most watched game and increasing rapidly! Thirdly if PVL does well obviously the game does well !
Why on earth people hate on V’landys is beyond me.
Why are you so defensive of "old Pete"? Why is it that any criticisms get thrown his way you go on a tangent about the person posting? You seem to think you can run the game better than old Pete
so why not send in your resume instead of wasting your talents on here
I’ve never felt more comfortable about how rugby league sits compared to rival sports since 95
Oh wow you make so much senseNRL had a TV rights agreement with Nine. The NRL renegotiated with a lower money value - Nine then proceeded to buy the rights to Rugby. It's pretty simple.
NRL has always had strong TV ratings - superior on a national landscape than AFL. I'm happy round one had record numbers that was strongly supported by expansion of the league. Hopefully, it encourages the growth and further expansion of the game.
That being said, it is one round. The 2022 NRL Grand Final had the lowest ratings in the Nine era (Edit: Worst since 2003 when the current data collection method was used). Peaks and valleys are nice, but consistent growth is what I'd like to see.
I criticise V'Landys - I don't hate him. There is a key difference. He got fleeced on the TV rights deal. The delays with the CBA could have been avoided, but ultimately got to where they needed to. The introduction of the six again rule was awful and has only been partially fixed by the 40m rule - but there are still major flaws with it.
"If PVL does well obviously the game does well" - you'd like to think so, but it's not necessarily the case. But plenty of executives benefit from just being in the position, and not necessarily the results that they bring for the business.

Has Ruby League ever got the value it should for TV rights? No. So why would you think they would next deal when the track record simply isn't there? You got very defensive when a simple fact was mentioned.
Good chat. Hopefully you get some new material next time.Oh wow you make so much sense
I’m going to email Peter now and tell him you should have his job
didn’t read the last post tbhGood chat. Hopefully you get some new material next time.

PVL is a proactive person, kept the game going through covid, instituted rule changes and dropped a reff back to 1. Some of the things haven't worked out but he gets things done! Working his butt off to get us the best stadiums and just gave us a new team. He's done a lot to speed things up, if something needs to be acted on it is almost instantly!NRL had a TV rights agreement with Nine.
