And bring in a second Brisbane team.

This cap could effectively solve most of the NRLs troubles! Broncos won't be able to go "awwww we cawnt cowmpeeewwwt if ders a secwond teawmmmm :(((((( "

There will be enough money for expansion without clubs draining what they hope will be $100M/yr by 2025 with nothing to put back into the league lolz

How do you address contracts and other ongoing commitments eg loans ?

Simples - make special exemptions relating to that. Should be applying it to future costs anyway.

Finger in the air, $4-5million, that should pay for coaches, physics, supplements etc etc

Free spending on stuff like membership, fan engagement, game day experience etc

And what about junior development.......some clubs spend $3 million others next to zero.

This is exactly what I am thinking.

Spend on things that actually grow the game. Not inflating costs and wages of coaches. The coaches are for the most part terrible with the TV (where the $$ are coming from) anyway.

The clubs only spend money on developing elite juniors who might grow up to help them win a premiership.

What we need is money spent on juniors who aren't ever going to be any good but who will go home and watch Rugby league on friday night rather than some other code.

If LC fine, that is part of their mandate. If NRL club doesn't have a profitable poker den empire then the NRL should be picking up the bill as part of its $100mill grass roots funding. If NRL club has the money and wants to spend more than this so be it., I'd rather see any excess going to Jnr development than paying someone like Dank.

It's a bit of a furphy the panthers FC saying they overspend because of funding jnrs millions when in reality that is coming out of the panthers LC revenue.

So what if it is coming out of leagues club funding.......the leagues club was put there to propagate rugby league. And could you imagine the current NRL board spending 100 million dollars on junior league development......they haven't got a clue.......the money would be wasted on administration costs........they lost 17 million dollars last year.

no it's not

"...All leagues clubs commenced with similar aims and objective in their articles of memorandum of association which were generally to:

"propagate the game of rugby league at senior and junior level and to generally support the community"

Leagues clubs were granted licences for gaming machines and liquor on that basis"

Is that leagues clubs mandate are to fund grass roots sport. If not the case anymore tax them the same as casinos and pubs.

some league clubs spend very little on Jnr rugby league, some spend alot. Some spend little on NRL clubs, some spend alot.

Point is a new cap should only apply to FC football team operations like coaching etc. jnrs should be funded by: LC or NRL club if they can afford it or NRL where appropriate.

That's what I think, to properly use central funds.

I love how some people have no frakken idea about leagues clubs. Most if not all of them do not say their purpose is to propagate junior rugby league at all. They often say to propagate league within their district, or in some cases to support a team in a particular grade. Case in point, back in the late 1990s, Wenworthville Leagues Club were going to pull there team out of the Metropolitan Cup as they didn't want to carry the running costs of fielding a team. This decision was quickly reversed when it was pointed out to them that this was the principal purpose of the leagues club was to support the fielding of said team in said competition.

As such before you go sprouting off you need to actually do some research and not just dig up a throw away quote which is uncited as to its source.

thats it, and put pressure on these places to justify their true existence. otherwise I find them completely appalling - from an operational standpoint. They are often great places to grab a feed.
