NRL faces major turmoil as clubs threaten breakaway league

Here is how I saw it happen.

Grant walked (strutted) in there with his Qld jersey on and sat down. Greenberg started the preceding and then Grant stood up and said,
All you clubs are wanker$ and aren't going to get me sacked. This is what we will give you....
We'll give you 130% but $200k from each club will go into a sinking fund. And you will still have to fund grassroots in your local areas and KPI that we will arrange for you to receive further Grant money.
You won't be getting members on the commission because you can't run a leagues club let alone a code.
And I'll tell you when I'm done as chairman.
Then ......mike drop! And walks out.

He could have quit/ fallen on his sword with the upside of you being out of a job as well..

Maybe the next bloke will stand up to the evil clubs..

you have zero idea. Now you are talking about the evil clubs. The same ones you play in the ball pit with.

Can you find that $200 mil admin cost please??

Has Grant ever done anything wrong during his 5 yr tenure according to you?

How are we going on all the KPI's that the NRL announced in 2012 around crowds, grassroots etc?

Why is the NRL agreeing to stupid TV slots like Friday 6pm?

Why is NRL admin spending going through the roof?

How about NRL expansion plans for the premier comp ( 2028 maybe)?

But.. but.. the evil Clubs and their media mates are too blame!!!

Unfortunately you might be out of a job soon mate...

Excuse me dickwad but you seemed to have missed responding to this post?

or it could have gone, grant walks in, clubs tell him show us the money or your gone. Grant says ok you can have the money, turns to Greenburg and says just cut the amount we was going to spend on grass roots. Everyone shakes hands and leaves.

Certainly looks like a cut and run from the promised grassroots funding of $100pa. Greenberg dodging of the questions related to figures says it all. they dress it up as a 65% increase on the current level thinking nobody would notice.

P.S I am beyond filthy at both sides

I dont think the clubs got 130% either

With NQ vote gone and Politis blowing up shows who wants to be clubs chairman

I suspect the clubs no longer had the numbers

So settled for a compromise

But we will read the clubs position in tomorrows News Ltd publication after their post meeting coffee

I hope Roy Masters tears them both to shreds and calls them out on the grass roots component.

Do they scrap all of these grand second tier plans is my biggest question.

Butt hurt?

Why?

I also suspect the clubs are celebrating that your boss is staying...

In relation to the expenses... Refer to the annual report balance sheet under "Football" ... Explains all apparently..

Butt hurt because your club mates got taught a lesson.

I've seen the annual report. And at no point does it say anything about admin costs of being $200 mil.
Seems your more like the clubs bosses than I first thought. Just lie enough till people start believing you.

The clubs can celebrate all they want, Grant doesn't care.

Don't lie to try and prove your point next time because everyone on here has noticed it.

Not surprised, disappointingly expected. But you live in hope that just once you might be wrong and the game might do what's best for the game. Then you remember you are a rugby league fan.

In fact the money hasn't really gone to the clubs, the money was offered to the clubs as well as promised to grass roots, the nrl then decided it wanted to spend more elsewhere. so the clubs are, probably, getting what they were offered and grass roots is paying for whatever the $80mill taken off them the nrl is going to use it for.

I can see where your coming from but I have a different take. The Nrl the other week said, they don't have the money to fund the 130% as well as give the $100 mil to grassroots. Now that $100 mil was only ever spoken about and never formalized or delivered to qrl/nswrl boards. So I don't believe the money is necessary been taken away as yet, if it was never proposed. Just my 2 cents and I can see how you think otherwise.

There seems to be a lot of info missing from the meeting but I also hope your figures are incorrect because $80 mil is a lot of money that grassroots clearly need.

So they caved in to clubs and stripped the money from grass roots, couldn't see that Coming!
No grass roots = no future.
With the way the clubs are acting and with no business acuman Rugby League will be dead in in this country in 20 years.
The biggest winners oot of todays deal is the aFL who will be laughing their socks off at the lack of money going into grass roots Rugby League.

We know for a fact that the clubs did not want to have a sinking fund to bail out broke clubs because apparently that's the Nrls job. But for some reason they accepted that which already means that have accepted less than 130%, does it not?

To much info is missing for an informed debate on the main issues.
