Does Napa pay his 10% before tax or after?

$500k per year, fined $50k, taxes on $450k still leaves $265,244

$500k per year, fined after tax. $291,740 after tax, leaves a a fine of $29,174.
Leaves $262,566 income.

This is ridiculous nothing illegal was happening. Does the NRL hire people to dig dirt up.

No, but the media does. If they can't find it they'll make it up and brew outrage.

Remember how Cronulla were losing the 2016 premiership and getting punished into oblivion a couple weeks ago?

Fmd, if it was a woman player, there is no way in the f**king world she would get fined for starring in a sex tape. The bloke would probably get executed. What a disgrace, i wouldnt pay it

The footage of Napa Fingering one’s own colon was punishment for the poor individual who’s mates thought it would be hilarious to reshare.

A person’s eyes cannot be unstained from the misfortune of opening & viewing this attachment.
It doesn't help that you wached it repeatedly....some would say excessively Sad.

Will Mr Consistent fine these Panthers players for their alledged involvement in these tapes, I wonder ?

Probably not.

In his press conference today he said he can only "guarantee to be fair, not consistent" so what hope is there?

In other words, he dishes out punishments in direct correlation with the amount of negative media it gets, there is no other criteria until it is a chargeable offence of a max of 11 years or more.

Press conference today? Or do you mean Friday?

Either way he's right, consistency is impossible. Pleading for it is pointless

Can we all agree that whatever your tastes are it’s really f**king weird that people keep filming this shit?

Fair go that some of it was done without the people knowing, but some of it was filmed with the knowledge of all involved.

What the f**k for? Who’s going to sit down in three years and go ‘hmmmm, nothing on Netflix so I’ll chuck on the time that me and my old teammate railed that chick we picked up at Darling Harbour’.

Consistency is certainly possible, if the judge, jury and executioner chooses to be consistent.

Bloke has consensual sex on tape with a female = $50k fine.

Therefore....next bloke has consensual sex on tape with a female = $50k fine.

The only inconsistent thing is Toddys bending over for the level of media outrage.
Higher the outrage = higher the penalty.

Toddys inconsistency is the problem, thus far..but let's give him time to impose a fine on the Panther players ( alledgedly).

Not sure where you got "50k fine" from. Napa was fined 10 percent of his salary.

I presume May will be subject to the same fine - we'll find out tomorrow according to the SMH. As for the second Panther - no idea. Reports are at least one of them is a lower grade player.

Sweet as a nut.
If a 10% salary fine is the going rate for a released sex tape, then let's apply it to all.

No reason not to be consistent, which was the discussion after all, not the actual penalty applied.

Over to you Toddy.

Neither. As fines are not tax deductable;
He gets fined on his taxable income - estimated at 500K = 50K fine
He gets taxed on his taxable income - estimated 500K = approx 200K tax (less all the deductions a smart tax lawyer will get him))
Income after tax (worst case) = 500 - 200 - 50 = $ 250K

Today when Yvonne Sampson was asking him questions.

I've never advocated blanket bans or the like but he is the one that has somewhat implemented that. Surely he can try and implement similar punishments for similar offences when using his discretion?

Its entirely possible in this case. Tyrone May and his mate each get fined 10% of their salary. Completely consistent. Easy.

What would stop Todd doing that?

Also Timmah, you realise that for the fans of many clubs, consistency = fairness. For mine the single biggest problem in the NRL, worse than the DeBelins and Napas is the inconsistency throughout the NRL from the top, down through refs & judiciary. If the bulldogs spent enough time down at the blunt end of the pack you will know what I mean.
