Ennis was 50m behind the play injured. It was 13 on 13 based on this despite us having 14 on the field. I really don't think 2 points is a fair punishment for an honest mistake like this. It could mean the difference between 8th and 10th spot on the ladder.

So if one of the panther players went down while defending the line its ok for a replacement to just run onto the field (without letting the officials know) when the other guy is still laying on the ground?

yeh, the Bronco's case was worse, given Parker was the 14th man and scored the try

I'm guessing the broncos Received a penalty and where on the attack while Webcke was being taken off the field? I am also fairly sure the rules around this have changed due to what happened here...

The 2 are so different stop clutching at straws...

Ryan came off on the opposite side of the field to where the interchange took place...i thought players were meant to have cards or something which they swapped when they interchanged anyway? Maybe Ryan didn't know that Roberts had even come on the field...in the heat of the moment when the trainer tells ryan to stay on the field I highly doubt Ryan thinks to count the number of players on the field to make sure he isn't coming on illegally.

I think a large fine would be sufficient in this case, particularly when you compare it with the Broncos and Cowboys cases from the past few years. Mind you, they were News Ltd. owned teams, so i'm not expecting much...

Webcke was injured and still on the field, hence why they had 14 men

Ennis was also injured and also on the field

Not sure what rules were changed

lol, if they knew why would they send him on knowing they could risk the 2 points

The Broncos incident, the officials told Parker not to go on, but he still went on

what biased one eyed rubbish, you had 14 players from the time Ryan came back on until the fulltime whistle. He was in the attacking line.

And you think its harsh you lose the competition points??

It would be a farce if you kept them

what i wanna know is why Roberts and Ryan didn't swap interchange cards. Thats probably what made Ryan run back on the field. I guarantee he didn't even know an interchange took place therefore ran back on when told by the trainer to stay on the field. I hope somehow we can prove that there was some wrong-doing by an interchange official because IMO its not worth the points being stripped. I need to see the footage, but i would have thought Ryan would still be running back to his place in the line at the time the try was scored based on the written evidence. Not to mention Ennis on the ground 50m behind play. Fact is we probably would have scored that try with 8 players on the field, the Panthers left a huge hole for us to run straight through.

but that isnt the point is it.

They didnt swap cards because Ryan left on the far side to walk around. For him to leave the field he must have known Roberts were coming on otherwise he would have left his side down to 12 men.

so he just wandered off the field and had no idea what he was doing then only realised he was supposed to be playing footy when a trainer called him back?

yeah coz ryan deliberately ran back on the field knowing full well we already had 13 players on the field and taking the risk that if we scored a match winner we would maybe lose our points...sounds much more believable than ryan not knowing wtf was going on?

it all happened so quickly, sometimes a mistake happens. The last thing on Ryan's mind at the time would be to ensure that he wasn't entering the field illegally, all he would have been thinking was how we can get a match winning try. Does the mistake warrant us losing 2 points for? Not in my opinion. Maybe because i'm a dogs fan, but I can't see why POTENTIALLY we should miss out on the top 8 or top 4 because of this little blunder. Sure, next time it happens dock us the points, we'll definately learn our lesson from this, but other teams have been fined in the past for what i'd consider similar offences.

Rubbish! When has the losing team ever been awarded the stripped points? :?

I'm saying they should.

How can anyone disagree with that? According to the NRL, the Bulldogs cheated (not my words, theirs)

Penrith lost because, in the eyes of the NRL, the Bulldogs broke the laws of the game. If you were to lose in anything by your opponent cheating, you should be awarded the victory.
