lol Bumble go back to bed, way past your bedtime

 at us "cheating"

like for some reason we deliberately fielded 14 players to better our chances of winning the game. Heck why didn't we just throw all 17 on the field?

Just a point I came across. Since the result of this match is going to be deemed invalid technically since no team receives any points, what does this mean if it were to happen identically to this in the grand final. Would the club who won be stripped of the premiership? We're going to be stripped of our reward for winning this game, so i'm assuming if the same thing happened in the grand final that the team who won would be stripped of the premiership.

Maybe because i'm a dogs fan, but I can't see why POTENTIALLY we should miss out on the top 8 or top 4 because of this little blunder.

Karma for July 6, 1975, Wests fans could have said the same thing then, and who made the complaint that cost them a spot in the 5, oh yes karma.

should bring a smile to Mick Liubinskas’ face

Back then you had 13 starters plus 2 reserves, the rules stated that the 2 reserves had to have played a full game in reserve grade, Mick Liubinskas had not played the full game in reserves when used as a replacement in first grade, Canterbury made a complaint to the league and Wests were stripped of their point for a 7 all draw with the Berries, ultimately it cost them a spot in the 5, because someone made a small blunder just like you referred to...karma

I said TWICE that that was the NRL's words, not mine, you cretin.

Perhaps you should go to bed because you clearly aren't reading very well.

The Cowboys player didn't either. He just stood in the backline. The defence shouldn't have to contend with a player that should NOT be there. Who knows, the defence may have slid to mark up on Roberts better if Ryan wasn't there.

I am already over it. 2 points lost because we were silly. Lucky for us it's the start of the season, and we just have to work a little harder to regain them down the track.

I acknowledge that it is our stuff up and if we are to lose the points then we cant blame anyone but ourselves, simple as that.

Geez, I was going to mention illegal shoulderpads until those 2 posts.

 for the credibility, guys.

Timmah - illegal shoulderpads. ;-)

if you go on the gold coast precedence from decades ago when wally was captain coach, it doesn't matter whether the player was involved in a play that altered the outcome of the game. a breach is worth the 2 points if you happen to win, and 10000 if you lose.

Ryan came off on the opposite side of the field to where the interchange took place...i thought players were meant to have cards or something which they swapped when they interchanged anyway? Maybe Ryan didn't know that Roberts had even come on the field...in the heat of the moment when the trainer tells ryan to stay on the field I highly doubt Ryan thinks to count the number of players on the field to make sure he isn't coming on illegally.

I think a large fine would be sufficient in this case, particularly when you compare it with the Broncos and Cowboys cases from the past few years. Mind you, they were News Ltd. owned teams, so i'm not expecting much...

Actually it was ennis being down that ryan came running back on, and ryan stayed on the field when he seen ennis getting back up and playing on.

There is no excuse for ryan staying on when he seen ennis is alright

so the broncos comparison is nothing like what happen to the bulldogs, ryan chose to stay on leaving bulldogs with 14 men

So now the evidence shows Ennis was not down the whole time and the Dogs had 14 players all on their feet all with a possibility of being involved.
Good Luck Defending this one.

Broncos to appeal NRL decision

Wed 14.4.2004 - Dan Koch
showimage.php

The Brisbane Broncos have tonight announced the club will appeal the decision of the National Rugby League to strip the team of two premiership points.

The appeal will to be the NRL Appeals Committee, chaired by Sir Laurence Street. Broncos Managing Director, Bruno Cullen, said he was extremely disappointed with the decision by the NRL to confirm the breach notice, issued to the club on Monday, March 29.

'There is not a single bone in my body that tells me the Broncos took an unfair advantage over the Wests Tigers in round three,' he said.

'And in my daily life in the period since we were first served with the breach notice - and that includes several trips to Sydney - the support for the club over this issue has been overwhelming.

'To me, the general consensus of opinion is that commonsense, quite simply, has not prevailed in this instance.

'We intend to fight for the retention of our two points, which we have no doubt we fairly and justly earned. And we believe we have grounds for appeal.'
This here shows that if our game had any consistency and any justice, The Bulldogs should not be stripped of 2 competition points. On top of that:

  • The interchange official should be the one responsible as he took the Interchange card off Ben Roberts to allow him on the field
The way I see it, the game is stale and new rules every year are driving it into demise. We need a new NRL CEO with fresh ideas and a fresh mind.

Precendents from several years ago are worthless... we've seen as much with the NRL's stance on player behaviour this season.

If the game is stale, then new rules are something that makes things fresh, aren't they?

Good luck to the Bulldogs in the appeals process - that's what it's there for. But I've got no problem with a team losing their points for a win if it were gained while they weren't following the rules of the game (13 on the field, interchange cards and linesman protocols followed).

The Bulldogs lost 39 of their points for breaching the rules a few years back, didn't they? So 2 points should be a walk in the park...

This makes the Warriors V Broncos game pretty interesting now. Winner will go top with the maximum points to start the season.

Silly Dogs.
