Na Cows are ordinary and Knights with Pearce and Ponga are a different beast

We shouldn’t be trying to drag the comp back to the lowest denominator, it’s up to teams and coaches to sort out how to defend the natural footy players after just basing the game around picking athletes for years

So this weekend has basically defined the season for me. Be disappointed by the Warriors, then the next day watch several of 4 or 5 other teams and think, “well at least we’re not THOSE guys”.

The positive with the Warriors is they haven’t really been blown off the park, several teams have nothing in them once a couple of things don’t go their way

Tigers are one of the best examples, criminal to hear them say “we just didn’t turn up today” after they’ve been crap for weeks

Brisbane certainly didn’t miss a couple of bad attitudes in Pangai and Lodge, young guys stepped in well
Bugger, now the Bulldogs are cellar-dwellers.

Up to 12 Dragons were allegedly at a house party after their flukey win over the Warriors! The exact Covid-bubble violation is yet to be determined. What we do know is that the police were called twice to party, for noise complaints.

You'd think they'd just won the grand final. They beat the Warriors in a regular season fixture. I didn't realise we were that good.

Yeah it’s not bad timing ! No Tom or DCE week will be interesting, week after should see the return of Jake and Schuster against a team that we never beat that may be severely depleted

Oh, FMD, we're still in it!

A healthy win over a disjointed Sharks and we're in the eight, with eight rounds to go. Oh, other results need to fall in our lap too.

Strip them 2 points and hand out some fines.

Warriors should have been given 4-6 points at start of season to make up for no home games.
I'm sure clubs understand their sacrifice?

No idea. You'd have to ask him.
But there is a widening gap between the top and bottom teams.

You’d think he is lining up Brisbane

The gap is widening, but I hope they don’t panic and the solution is to drag the good teams back to the weak teams level

We are paying the price for the league going down the athlete route so you get guys with no football nous coming through because they fit a mould, Xavier Coates is a good example. We also now have the generation that came through U20s where defence wasn’t prioritised and that has carried through to the top level, and will take a while to get right again. The clubs near the bottom generally show absolutely no ticker under adversity, and used to live by deliberately giving away penalties to get a breather, they are exposed more now they can’t do that

And yet Souths, a supposedly “top” team still got 50 put on them in consecutive weeks by the two pacesetters this year. You expect cellar dwellers to cop towellings, that’s always happened. We’ve copped a bunch over the years and dished a few out too when we’ve been hot. But it’s been worse than just the top few teams smashing two or three basket cases this year.

Obviously a mountain of natural talent is the key, but the secret to unlocking it seems to have been hiring Brett Stewart as a specialist back 3 coach last year

Definitely shades of Stewarts underrated passing game that have shone through this season.

For one of those they were minus plenty of their most important troops in Reynolds, Mitchell and Murray.

It’s not a new thing either, I can remember back in 2008 when we won the comp an ordinary Souths team put 40 on us. The same year you guys made the prelim and we put 52 on you earlier in the year

I think the game is headed in a better direction than a few years ago with deliberate penalties and wrestle galore, it might just take some time for some coaches and players to catch up

I’m not sure if it is coincedence or not, but 4 of the top 6 sides are coached by the best coaches of the NRL era (Bellamy, Bennett, Hasler, Robinson)
