NRL Rd 22 2025 - General Non-Warriors Thread

Winter's hitting hard this week and I mentioned a while ago that things like Origin, Wimbledon, the Tour of France, et al, get you through it but, really, it's club footy that does.

I have juicy NRL player talk from my former deep-Parra mole/would be deep-WA Bears mole/current deep-Leeds Rhinos mole. They're fed up with the refereeing. A high profile player told him that the 'referees decide matches more than we do'. I think we can relate to that.

Tonight, in a wintry, ice bowl in Parramatta, the Eels are out to do another big side. Gee, they've improved and Moses is their man. Melbourne are without Hughes so perhaps our tipsters were a bit shy in staying with the Storm? The Warriors want upsets, and that's kicking off in another thread at the moment.

Friday, six pm magic hour (AEST) and primetime in NZ (poor WA!), it's what gets us through another week. Warriors v Dolphins. Dallin v the Hammer. Let's hope our 'Pelé' scores more than he lets in. Brisbane should roll the Rabbitohs, live on Reece TV, I mean, Nine.

Saturday, let's go for another monumental upset by Dessie's men, let Penrith know how it feels, whilst doing us a nice favour. St George are capable of giving Canberra the 'loss they might need' and Manly host Easts in a classic do-or-die at Brookvale.

Sunday, upset, upset, upset, puh-lease...Benji's boys! But it won't happen, the Dogs are clicking (and let's not have them angry for next week). We close with the Sharks against the (bottom)-six-shooters from NQ. How serious are Cronulla? It's time for them to show us what they've really got.

Enjoy!

Had to laugh at Jake during the week being asked about DCE. “He hasn’t told us anything, but if what all you guys are saying is correct, maybe he will have a big game to impress his new club”

Word emerging that a group of ex Manly players are pushing Ballin to oust Seibold

Jurbo is a legend... saw a snip of his session on the Cooper and Matty poddy, he talked about getting smashed on red wine - that he hated - on a Kangaroo tour.. man he tells a great yarn

I listened to that today lol, he is a quality operator

“I don’t have social media because I don’t need to read I’m fat and slow, even though that is correct it doesn’t do any good for me”

Was a good yarn as well about when all the sides were in Qld during Covid, he was unhappy with a game so he went to Des’ room, and they watched every tackle he made then recreated them on the floor of Haslers room with the right techniques haha

Bugger, Melbourne broke the deadlock at 10-all and held on for 16-10. However, either Parra are suddenly quite good or Melbourne aren't exactly setting the comp on fire?

As Warriors fans we keep saying we have no chance of winning a premiership this year but it's not a foregone conclusion that the Storm will win it either.

Does anyone believe we would get the penalty with Ford in the ruck and Grant passing into him?
No, and it was a surprise that Grant got pinged. To be fair, live, it did look like a milking penalty, but the Eels 15 made zero effort to move and the Storm first receivers were right behind him. I don't think it was a penalty. But referees love a close finish.
