Magic Round! It never needs much introduction. Anything can happen, even zero sin bins! Imagine that.
It all kicks off Friday night with the wounded Sharks against Parra. The Roosters will try to tell us they're back in form, but the truth is they just can't be trusted. I tipped Redcliffe.
Saturday, it'll be Souths favourites to roll Newcastle, then the big one, Warriors (with a big 'home' crowd) clashing with the Cowboys. I'm expecting our quicker backs and forwards - Taine, Ali, Leka and Egan - to enjoy some open play for a change. Things are different this weekend. It's an exhibition.
Wests are riding high, an extra-time win at Leichhardt will always do that for them but it's back to reality now against St George, who have more experience in big games (well, Gutho does, and he's a leader for them already). I hope Galvin doesn't go up in a puff of smoke in another week or two. He made his mark last week and they need him.
Sunday, Dessie, after decades of playing and coaching, might need a magic wand to win this, but the Bulldogs were beaten badly, even humbled, last week so the GC might come home good.
Penrith, oh Penrith. They look shot. Edwards, Yeo, Cleary, it's not there anymore. The Broncos will test their defence, it could even get ugly. We close with Melbourne v Canberra, the Raiders are gnarly enough to worry Bellamy's lot and it would be true to how this season's going if Sticky snatched an upset.
Enjoy!
