at some stage during the year, There will be a player sitting in NSW\QLD Cup who thinks he should be in NRL. He will transfer and be at a new club in days. Yet 4 months isn't long enough to find a new club?

In my opinion, the men's thing is both sides and there is a bit of the players being greedy. They know when the comp starts they know they are covered by their existing contracts for any medical issues, be it full contract or train/trial.

Its the NRLW where the NRL is crap, they have been like that for years, always leaving things too late and the players not being covered or contracted and left in the lurch

The medical side of things, what the players are saying is that at the moment you only have 12months after you stop playing to get any surgery done on injuries sustained from football. What they want is longer coverage after they retire which is 100% fair enough.

To answer that you would have to know how many of the tv Audience we’re fans/supporters of the two clubs participating and how many are neutrals. We don’t have that data unfortunately so it’s impossible to say how valuable that is.
It wont matter we know average audience per NRL game and we know revenue per NRL game without SOO

That will give you a figure for a FTA fan v Pay-TV fan

After that other revenue like merchandise, membership or gate receipts become an add on

Needs to have limits though, Are players to only be on Development deals getting lifetime cover?

If they're injured representing a club then yes.

Not sure what the argument against is. If you are permanently injured from playing or training professionally then you should be covered. Especially since it will limit future career opportunities.

As far as I'm aware iCare doesn't cover pro sports but if an apprentice builder gets injured in their first week he'll be covered for years by workers comp.

yep, my mate got an Injury at work. Took 3 years of surgeries and rehab to get it to 80% ability. All covered by workers comp. Players deserve to be covered properly for injuries. Especially in arguably the highest contact sport in the world,.

Wow they made their points in different colours

they sure are serious

with salaries they way they are players could take out their own private insurance like most people in high paying jobs can afford to do

I love how the players are trying to paint themselves as the good guys

this won’t go anywhere but it it does the public will turn on them in a heartbeat

especially with the economy facing a potential recession and record high inflation and they just got a massive pay rise when real wages for most of the country have been falling for years

The colours must be all you observed because based on the rest of your post, you clearly didn't read the words on them.

I don't think anyone has an issue with someone like Alex McKinnon getting all the money he needs.

If Joey is still having neck issues 10 after retirement should he still get covered?

That is the reasoning behind having a end date, Maybe that gets extended out but it shouldn't be open ended

In your example those people are pretty much unable to work another job as is the case on with a work cover claim. Most players can work just can't play the game

Sorry but the fans are not the players bosses. In fact they have zero involvement in the player-club employment relationship. I wonder if you were told in your profession that you could only look for a new job at certain times of the year because some outside individuals, unknown to you, forced your employer to place this restriction on you. I bet you'd be outraged. On this point I do side with the players.

Some of their demands on other matters I don't (e.g. having a seat on the commission) but this is one i can see from their perspective. It is really none of our business in my book.
If my job was only a job because those "outside individuals" chose to spend money watching me do that job I'd probably be bit more understanding. Especially if I'm in my 20s earning money my 'skills' could never achieve in the real world.

Of course never forget these lads can quit the entertainment business tomorrow and be f**ken no one's again earning average wage any time they like.
