You must think fans are stupid to think that every player who plays rugby league at the top level are an elite athlete that we all need to feel sorry for, oh no fkn boohoo....
they make a better wage than most of the people in this country to play a game they love... if they are feeling that its a toll, maybe theyll need to switch professions, or take a few days off their workload, im sure the rookie who cant get a go coz you're there blocking his way to a fulltime gig and better pay wont whinge about the toll on the body, especially since being an NRL player is a dream job for most folks... we are talking 2 weeks not a full home and away season like most sports do, fmd if the baseballers or basketballers in the US cried poor over 2 weeks theyd get lynched, those seasons are brutal, not to mention the 7 game playoff thats pretty shithouse in comparison..

Yeah screw the players, our entertainment is far more important, not their long term health. We should do away with OH&S requirements in mines too since they get paid a lot, and if they don't like unsafe conditions they can just find a new career.

I note that you didn't compare it to the NFL by the way. I guess comparing it to the most similar sport didn't help your argument.

The players are not the product at all. They are the performers.

The players from what I can tell are seeking limited post season playing opportunities. Detrimental to the international aspect of the game. As far as I’m concerned, if an individual player is too burned out to play post season, then they can sit themselves out.

The players are the product, otherwise we'd be getting the same money for NSW/QLD cup games. Without the elite level players, the tv deal would be virtually nothing.

You do know most of the players aren't on top money right? And I follow the nba heavily and they also complain about the number of games they play every season genius, even tho they're getting paid 100's of millions of dollars. Nba players also take time off because of the heavy schedule and they cover it up by saying it's "injuries" which the nba CEO hates.
And again the nrl players ain't fighting for more money they wanna have a say if the nrl wants to adds more games. Right now the nrl can add more games whenever they like without letting the players know. Imagine working your everyday job and your boss tell you, you have to work on your day off take it or leave it!

Nrl is not NFL, the football in the US is laughable, with the helmets, pads and jock straps, plus they have a defence team, offensive team and and another specialist team, that all come on and off, they have absolutely no toll on the body to compare NRL to, as their game is not comparable to ours.. their season is very short too... the other codes aremore comparable with your argument of amount of games vs toll on body... besides wtf are they doing for the rest of the week, besides recovery and training? Poor little players... broadcasters want content, the players not adhearing to media interviews aswell as games does not equal content..
They might be playing the games, but the media advertisers it, aswell as pays for it, the percentage of players wage is dependent on what the ARLC, determine to hand out to each club, How the fk are the Arlc going to invest in more assets, international comps or expansion when the players are constantly asking for more than whats given

fuming, especially on the back of being lied to when the nrl tried to swindle them out of $28million by falsely declaring amount of revenue
This will be a timing issue

Everything should be based on the Annual report or ATO reporting cycles

No reason that NRL players can fain an injury too, im sure there's one in every team across the game feeling like a day off, as for the NRL adding more games, so what 1 or 2 extra rounds per season here or there especially with all these byes, previously these clubs were only getting byes around origin time, now they get 3 byes a season, how does that compute vs workload toll...

Again dont compare the average joe working a weekend OT to an extra round of playing the game in the top grade

Does the RLPA understand that SOO and Tests Australia play ARE included in the current broadcast agreement?

I would remove that % of revenue in the next funding discussion. Or maybe they did when $28 mil was removed

Be it broadcasting, merchandise, gate receipts etc

I wonder what the RLPA thinks of revenue that is distributed to state bodies?

There is a clear difference of oppinion on what is "players" money

We know that real players money goes through the clubs via the Salary Cap grants

The other issue is around player funds for non-NRL players or events that the ARLC must also address

I'm comparing average Joe's rights to a nrl players rights. At the end of the day they're humans like us and they also get injured and fatigue like anyone of us. Just because they're on top money doesn't mean they're invincible

You say that the NFL and NRL are nothing alike physically, and then say baseball is far more like NRL? Wtf

I hope you have never asked for a pay rise by the way. How is your employer supposed to invest more in their business if you keep asking for more than what's given?

I don't think I've ever had a job where I didn't have to work additional hours and/or days outside of the original contract. That's a dumb argument.

Fine we wont expand to perth then... of course they want to increase games... they want 20 fkn teams
Why does everyone assume as soon as someone says we are increasing games mean that the rounds are longer... theyll be 9 games per week when the next team comes along, and extra 12 games on the season..10 games per week when we get to 20 clubs..
i personally think it can go that long anyways, people say seasons too long, but when you got star players sitting on the sidelines for half the season, it sux when they play for your team At least when they return the club can make a run.. having a longer season, provides more content to broadcasters, and overlaps afl in weeks played keeping the game moreso in the focus, dont want a round with nothing and afl have something,
Provides more games for clubs per home games too, if we could get 13 home games 13 away, that would be pretty good, its 2 extra weeks, bit of a break during origin, with staggered byes, keep the top 8 finals maybe add a wild card for 9th, gives no.1 a rest first round..
This CBA profit sharing has f**ked NRLs progression, probably should have started after we had expanded more
you idiot, they’re talking about increasing games per club, not games per round, doh!

Talking of dumb arguments lol, no job you’ve ever had has added a 6th day to your working week, every week, without your agreement.

Never heard of corporate credit cards?

Also, having been an internal accountant at multiple companies over the years, every single one of them. Each department has an agreed budget for the year. It's their choice what they spend it on.

I feel those of us that have spent a career in corporate finance have a very different view of how things work.

If you want to piss someone off, tell them that in real terms they actually make a gain if their interest rate is below CPI. (If they paid too much for the secured asset is another issue)

The only thing that stops Nine as a corporate entity from collapsing in terms of share price is the rights to the NRL.

They know it and the RLPA knows it.

FFS Uncle Rupert a few years back flew to Australia to have a press conference with the AFL he was so worried about his company not having NRL rights.

The extra 2 weeks don't get them extra money after they signed there contracts. Extreme or not the players should have rights to decide

If its more than 2 rounds, then yeah they are, at the moment its 1-2 rounds without it...
Besides it not like its spare of the moment, the schedule is released well ahead of time, they basically get around 10 months notice on how many rounds, you guys are so defiant making a mountion out of a molehill, the clause to do this is probably there to make the sheduling easier if there's a possible 9th game and they need to shuffle rounds or games to suit it, as the byes will disappear
