Abdo on the international payments

“Our proposal was we carve off a small amount of our overall $1.347 billion offer that would mean all NRL and NRLW-contracted players, regardless of which country they choose to play for, will be paid the same amount for an international game,” Abdo said.

“They rejected our offer and said ‘no’.

“They only want the Australian men and women paid from that $1.347 billion player-payment pool.”

“This is really frustrating. We believe in the international game and the ARL Commission has decided they are going to invest in revitalising the international games.

“We have proposed to the RLPA a standardised, fixed match fee to get the international game going.

“Don’t we think all international players should be treated equally regardless of which nation they represent?”

Again where are these extra rounds going to fit into the schedule.

GF is Oct long weekend
Week off
4 weeks of tests.

Players get 8 weeks off.

They won't be back at training until January.
They need 6 weeks training to be able to play as per the agreement.

So where are the season extension going to happen?

Josh Mansour
Martin Taupau

Have both said themselves they had to cover their own expenses to play
Martin Taupau was off contract and had to pay his own insurance to the world cup. But after the world cup I don't know if he got paid or not.

Kiwis and islanders in the rlpa should be up in arms over that

The problem is the arlc has been negotiating in good faith whilst the players haven’t

the arlc should never have agreed to the headline increase without sorting out the extras as well

the arlc should just lay low and let the players cop the blame they can’t give in anymore

It'll keep the Kangaroos dominate !

Why choose to play for Tonga, Samoa or Fiji for peanuts when you can get paid handsomely for playing for Austrlia ;)
If all the pacific nations got paid the same and they play the international games the same week as origin we'll definitely see alot of the island players turn down the origin jersey to play for the island nations

I am going to assume the RLPA wants the NRL to add to the 1.34 billion to cover the international player payments.

That's why they rejected it.

If this were true, do you think the non-Australian players would be completely silent about it? It's a lie to make the players look bad, and it's obviously working on people like the below. The ARLC think they are entitled to all of the revenue, but the players are responsible for the salary costs.

the arlc should just lay low and let the players cop the blame they can’t give in anymore

So why does the 1.34 billion include payments for kangaroos and nobody else

It probably does the includ a small amount but not enough match the SOO match payments and the greedy RLPA don't want to share what they have and want more.

Afl gives the a lot more money and doesn’t demand any control of it. I’m pretty sure the nrl players have looked at what’s happening for their counterparts and gone ”screw this“.

“Clint's got the personality where he likes to procrastinate and sticks to his guns so for the players he's a great figure head for it.”
Did you read where the rlpa returned the deal with some changes, the nrl then Changed 100 points of it and said take it or leave it? You need to get your tongue out of abdos backside, theres no room with vlandys arm already up there.
