NRL teams - Round 1

Looks like the Roosters are doing a few things right with that side.

They have shifted Anasta to lock, smart move, lets hope they keep him there. He suits the position alot more than five eigth. Also will all the talk from Rooster fans about all these young very good players coming through, we are actually going to see them get a shot. Lets hope that if they don't find their feet straight away, they get given enough time to do it. Like the Raiders this year, very much a team of the future ( well the backs anyway ).

The4 one thing I don't like about the side, is the aging forard pack. Being a Broncos fan that may sound hypocritical, but these guys aren't Webcke, Thorn, Carroll or Petero, they're poor mans versions. Signing Beattie and Nutley was stupid, they let Morley go for these two? Rooster fans must be still pulling their hair out over this one.

Around the rucks the Roosters are gonna get killed by teams like the Cowboys, Broncos, Bulldogs, Tigers, Titans and Storm. No wonder they are using 1 marker, they are trying to cover for very limited mobility around the ruck.

i think nutley will go good this yr

Likely match ups

1. Mini vs Peachey
2. Kenny-Dowell vs Merritt
3. Monaghan vs Vagana
4. Soliola vs Gordon
5. Perrett vs Hegarty
6. Aubusson vs Sutton
7. Lewis vs Williams
8. Beattie vs Cusack
9. Wing vs Irvine
10. Nutley vs Asotasi
11. Tupou vs Kidwell
12. Fitzgibbon vs Stuart
13. Anasta vs Fa'alogo

14. M.Paea vs Widders
15. Tonga vs Geddes
16. Myles vs Galuvao
17. L.Paea vs Manuokafoa

Make your own mind up.

Personally, head-to-head you'd pick Mini, Soliola and Wing for the Roosters. The rest are pretty even or in Souths' favour. Round 1 though match-ups really mean squat. So it'll be a close match.

I expect he'll be in the starting side by mid-season, I just don't think he can be kept out for two long.

But to begin the season you have to remember he's still young (he was 17 when he debuted last season) and it seems like Sheens wants to go with experience early on. (Apparently he brought Moodie out of retirement so that he could act as a mentor for Collis and help Collis develop his game)

roosters have better backs, souths have better forwards...

its going to come down to tactics, or if it rains...

so if its a fine night then il go with roosters, if its wet then id go with the bunnies...

going off trial reports, Galloway and Heighnington would be the only sure things for starting jerseys in the forwards.
i imagine paytem will be teaming up with galloway in the front row.
either gibs or ohara to be dropped

Dunno why everyone is writing the Roosters off.

I reckon they'll be the surprise packets of the year and will make the 8 quite comfortably.

Good forward pack + Mini - Finch = Finals.

Just wait and see tomorrow then. O'Hara hasn't been performing in the trials and needs a kick up the arse, while Galloway has a good offload and will be brought on after 20 as an impact player.

Sheens spilt the beans at the BLC Meeting apparently. OHara didn't make the 17, Harrison did. Gibbs will start and Galloway off the bench. According to someone at the meeting on Sunday anyway.
