Let's hope Turbo is fit and is back because he would in the side somewhere if available.

A couple rounds now since naming that side and I probably wouldn't be picking Scott at centre. If Jack Bird can learn how to catch the ball I wouldn't mind seeing him in there.
Turbo has announced he aims to return for round 12, which is after the team for O1 is named. He could certainly cover fullback (as can Ferguson) but you then need someone to cover his spot. A bench utility is needed. I don't know that Bird is going any better than Peachey and Peach is the incumbent. You'd think it would be one of those unless there's a backrower who can cover the threequarters.

Anybody think Alex Twal could be a Bolter for the side? His numbers are great, for the second year in a row is leading the tackle effeciancy rate comp wide and in the 2nd half of round 7 made his first handling error for the year. Freddy coached him at Lebanon and is a fan.

BJ Leilua is in some serious form for the Raiders. Freddy should be looking at him seriously as an option to take the right centre spot off Roberts.

Jesus, you couldn't have him. His head would explode under pressure wouldn't it?

Not convinced Roberts will lose his spot. He can do things no other player can do.

Out of the halve from the 2018 team, I think Maloney is the one under the most pressure to hold his spot. Cleary has started to find some form, and even when he was having the yips, he still had good composure. Keary is putting real pressure on Maloney in my opinion.

Leilua has the talent to play Origin. Problem is whether he could stand up to the pressure as he does come up with some bone head stuff. Fittler would have seen BJ up close when he was in the lower grades at the Roosters when Fittler was coaching there, so he'd have some idea about him.

All he can do is run quick. What else does he bring? I’m struggling to think of something positive.

impromptu weight training for his teammates

If Keary is fit and healthy he is a walk up start come origin.

you'd think so - but Freddy's doing the ol smoke and mirrors

Keary should be the walk up starting player in the halves and a pairing with Reynolds or Walker, or even Walker off the bench just makes sense with their historical combinations

It helps that Keary has combinations with Tedesco and Cook has combinations with Reynolds and Walker. Cook also has experience with Tedesco from internationals

Makes a lot of sense to me

The squad should just be 95% current and ex Souths and Roosters players

Gotta be Maloney and Keary in the halves

Maloney is a proven performer at Origin level. It’s been years since NSW have had that. Would be stupid to drop him.

Keary is undoubtably the form half of the comp but I just don’t get how we could pick him.

The guy literally begged to play for the maroons and really fought to represent them. They said no and we heard nothing from him till he hit some form and started to imagine that big origin pay day.

State of Origin has never been about having the best players in the competition, it’s suceeded due to the raw passion and hatred off the opposition (Not love like in Luke’s case). And while he would probably do a great job for us I’d much rather uphold the integrity of the state and the fixture by not selecting a guy who would much rather wear the maroon jersey.

Whilst their club form has been good, I'd doubt we would see a halves combination of Cody walker and Luke Keary, mainly because neither one of them is an established goal kicker. Origin matches can be quite close, so you need a regular goal kicker taking the shots, not a part timer. It is one of the saving graces for Maloney and Cleary is that they both are good goal kickers under pressure.

Dufmack, Keary is only eligible to play for NSW. As such if he wants to play Origin, its NSW or nothing and he knows it now.

The guy is using the blues team for a quick paycheque, he’s eligible but in my opionion he shouldn’t be selected.

You don’t have bleed blue to make the team but you sure can’t bleed maroon.
