Mitchell Pearce will again get a chance to show the world why his glass ceiling is club footy - no shame in that he's a bloody good club #7, but he should recognise it and retire from rep footy

It won't happen but could a Maloney/Bird, or Maloney/Keary combo work?

The Gods have kissed Mitchell on the arse again. He will be given yet another chance to guide the Blues to defeat on the back of his ineptitude and inability to rise to the occasion. Just when we thought we would get a new direction.

Be interesting to see if the Qld expected squad stay fit leading into Origin...

Would hate to see a couple of prominent Storm players get an early retirement...be a real shame if Smith or Slater didn't get the winning send-offs they deserve...

In all seriousness though, if the NSW forwards finish the job (unlike last year) then whoever gets picked for the #7 will have less of an impact. Pearce's weakness is that he's yet to take control of a rep game. His kicking is limited mostly to putting up the high ball and he can't pull something out of the bag like Cronk can. His strength is that he is a sound defensive player (as shown in the past fortnight) and he's a quick runner of the ball. If he gets space in the middle of the field he can cover a lot of distance before flicking it off his left or right shoulder for a support player to score off.

I reckon if picked he'll play little hand in NSW winning or losing OR he'll have a big series against a Qld team who are complacent/ past their best and all the "I told you so" masturbators will come out in force. I mean, Lockyer didn't stand out at Origin level until he was 29 either...

Mitch is a brilliant supporting half, didn't you see the way he helped set up Munster several times in game 3?

His greatest flaw is his inability to handle fatigue. It's why cronk and smith have absolutely decimated us over the years. Their decision making while under fatigue is still excellent.

Some players have it, some don't. Pearce does not.

Can we please find a way to play both Jack de Belin and Jurbo?

Honestly, they are the form middle players in the comp.

Luke Keary should get a seat in the Maroons Coach's Box at this years series. Kev should offer him the opportunity. You know, just to send the Blues hierarchy a two fingered salute.

There's no-one else. Cleary is injured, Moses is out of form, who else is there?

They could get Maloney to play halfback and Moylan to five eighth which worked well in Game 3 2016. Jack Bird or Keary could play halves as well.

Also remember that the Maroons are going with a totally new combination this year and no Cronk and Thurston is going to peg them back and level out the teams to some extent

Lockyer at 18 could play Mitchell off the park
