Carney basically is playing like a five eight with his positioning in attacking plays.
Everyone picking Carney in the halves for the origin team.... aint going to happen. Laurie Daley has said himself on fox that selectors wont consider choosing Carney in such an important position as half or 5/8 when he isn't even playing that position for the Roosters.
So he will either have to be picked at fullback ahead of Hayne or settle for a bench spot.
If Carney gets fullback ahead of Hayne, I will buy a f**king Queensland jersey and plant a cactus nursery up my arse. So that means Carney isnt going to be there. Fair enough, happy with that.
Personally I think that the NSW selectors will choose Kimmorley at half back and Greg Bird at five eighth.
They will talk about Greg Birds great footwork close to the line and his ferocious tackling and will hold up Kimmorleys experience and competative nature as his great assets.
Whereas we all know the reason they will choose them is because Greg Bird doesnt have a kicking or passing game and is as much a natural five eighth as Luke Lewis.
As for Kimmorley, this will be his last Origin season, so the opportunity to have a halves combination that they can definately change again next year, or preferably by game two of this series is far too tempting for the NSW selectors to turn down, so he's in for sure.
backline
1. Hayne
2. Morris
3. Morris
4. Tahu
5. Lawrence
6. Soward
7. Pearce
Hayne cos he's a freak.
the Morris brothers playing on the left wing. Solid and speed to burn. who wouldn't want to see that.
As long as Tahu gets his defensive reads in tack he'll be hard to miss. hard hitter and adds experience.
Lawrence because hes a solid defender and has great speed.
Soward only because he has a great kicking game which is a key for origin.
And pearce because he's in form.
This is the backline i would choose but instead of tahu i would pick cooper. The three games that tahu has played he has not been that impressive and cooper looked very sharp on his first game back on friday.
1- Hayne
2- Morris
3- Morris
4- Cooper
5- Lawrence
6- Soward
7- Pearce
Carney practically plays as a five-eighth in attack anyway, so the excuse of not picking him in the halves because he is playing fullback is f**king bullsh*t. Since when has that stopped them picking players in wrong positions anyway?
Greg Bird is not a five-eighth, we need to score points and he doesn't have enough creativity.
Springs, Lawrence is one of the best defence centres running around, though he was oddly poor against the Roosters. That's been his only bad defensive game for quite some time.
My team:
1. Hayne
2. B.Morris
3. J.Morris
4. Jennings or Tahu
5. Lawrence
6. Carney
7. Pearce
8. Galloway
9. Farah
10. Weyman
11. Watmough
12. Creagh
13. O'Donnell
14. Douglas
15. Learoyd-Larhs
16. G Stewart
17. Luke Lewis/Greg Bird
17. Depending on who gets the nod as 5/8th, I'd give this spot to one of the young blokes like Carney or Campese. Give them the chance to come on for 20 minutes or so during the game and get that experience under their belt. For Campese this would help him avoid the scarring that a bloke like Mullen received after he was shamefully hung out to dry after a single match! Thank f**k the NSW selectors didn't take the same approach with Laurie Daley!
