Jennings barely had the ball come his way in Origin 1, so can't they use Jenning/Tupou for attack in SOO2 and whoever is on the other side primarily as defense? Is that too hard?

Having Dugan at centre, rather than wing is madness to me.

Wing is just the pussy version of fullback.

I'm not saying there are no defensive decisions to be made on the wing - but they not nearly as difficult as a centres.

Hopoate's defence may have poor, but it's hell of a lot better than someone who's only plays 2 games there.

I'm hoping that the whole Dugan to centre is a rubbish thing just made up by the DT. No way that performance vs Sharks should hold any water, all he had to do in all those tries was fall over the line. Not to mention how poor the opposition was. Dylan Walker on the other hand, has some x-factor about him, was very impressed in his performance vs the Warriors, and talking to Souths supporters at work, they all wrap him as well (Dont watch heaps of Souths matches).

Apart from a bad game against Penrith Hoppa has been solid. I think the big deal everyone is making about his defence is a bit over the top. I still think he'd be better off handling the defensive side than Dugan who just hasn't played there. Plus Dugan would be more adept as a winger under the high ball being a fullback.

They could even switch in attack or just give Dugan a roaming role to get him more involved in centre field

If Slater or Inglis don't play, that left edge is no where near as dangerous because Inglis will not be at centre. I would be confident that whoever we pick will be able to handle Chambers quite comfortably

I agree with you! Josh Dugan CANNOT tackle! His decision making is defence is just as worse! The thing with Laurie Daley is that he's a stubborn b******! When he has made his mind up on who he wants there is no changing regardless of how well you play! I think he was looking for any excuse possible to pick Dugan and he got it in the form of his 3 tries against a reserve grade sharks team on Saturday night! As you can probably tell I'm not the biggest fan of Daley, I'm not really sure what he brings to the table other than his reputation as a player..but playing and coaching are two different things. I feel that tactically he is very limited and he doesn't make best use of the players he's selected in both attack and defense. I couldnt go on for ages about why thats the case but I wont bore you with that.

Also picking Will Hopoate on the wing? Im not so sure I agree with that one! I've got a question mark over his defence! Its this stupid logic of picking players out of position that has cost us series' in the past! As for Dylan Walker I think he would be ideal but hes injured so there is not point going there! I just dont buy this nonsense of not picking rookies for a 'crucial' game! Isn't the whole point of City vs Country to see how fringe players handle rep football in the event of injuries? If not then why do we bother playing it? It seems a bit hypocritical as well...Will Hopoate is virtually a rookie still..hes been out of the game doing that religious thing (probably knocking on people's doors trying to flog off bible's or something) for the last two years and this is his first year back in first grade!

Yeah, because Bird is terrible in defence.

Replacing Hoffman with Bird loses nothing in defence while adding plenty in attack.
It also leaves 3 specialist middle players in the middle with 2 of them being bigger bodies.

But no, I don't understand why they pick players in specific positions.

There will be rotations in the middle throughout the game. If Daley goes with what I expect he will, he will probably start Gallen, Woods & Bird with Farah in the middle, then rotate them with Watmough, Merrin & Tamou off interchange. Lewis can fill several roles either for Farah, another middle forward or on the edges if required.

In contrast, edge forwards generally will play massive minutes.

Daley will consider it imperative to try and maintain and build on the familiarity on the edges. Hoffman with Hodkinson, Scott with Reynolds rather than starting again with either of them.

Punting Hoffman and Scott brings him and the team back to square 1. There isn't much opportunity to build familiarity in a 3-game series.

Yes, in a perfect world without injuries and suspensions prior to Game 1, Lewis would be right forward and Bird would be left forward. This is what I prefer, but this is not a perfect world. With little time in camp and just 3 games, I expect him to make little changes in positions where familiarity is paramount, and bring in Bird into the middle and dropping probably Tamou to interchange who will bring better impact in this role than Woods.

If only Fergo didn't like to get busy with his fingers. We could be in a much better position right now

Somewhat concerned about that three quarter line defensively. Otherwise they've got the pack and the bench right.

Dissapointed that their are still leaks to the DT from within the NSWRL camp (Not NRL), given that's the exact team they said would happen yesterday.

Almost exactly right, they had Tamou starting with Woods on the bench. But it is a pretty obvious side really, there isn't really a shock selection anywhere going off Daley's public comments during the week
