I think Dugan and Hoppa can do the job.

Only problem I have is with Hoppa on the wing. By far his best touches this year have been the catch and pass and touch passes he has been pulling off, he has freakish hands and passing ability. As winger that is basically completely useless, also his lack of speed would be less of an issue in the centres imo.

I'll be extremely surprised if Dugan doesn't play wing in defence.

Then again, this is NSW selectors we're talking about.

Surely this has to be the case, would make no sense not to have Dugan atleast defending on the wing. If he does I think young Daniel Topou can expect a lot of kicks to his side of the field.

Yes, it was against the worst team in the comp. And he scored a hat-trick. Would you have preferred a quadruple?

Oh dear.

Greg Inglis: 5 tries in 12 games. Avg 148.

GI has been very under-involved this year and seems to be doing the bare minimum to preserve himself. Nothing like last year.

Again, most fullbacks make those sort of meters purely on kick returns.

The best answer to a deadly threat from the opposition is not a vain attempt to stop that threat (which isn't even possible - consult game 1), but to offer a threat yourself. Hoppa and TheDugan provide that threat, especially with Hayne as our main ball player linking up with them. All we need is a platform from our forwards and good early ball from our halves, which is what we got in game 1. I fully expect we'll get the same in game 2, especially on our own dunghill.

I sort of see where your coming from but I think the idea of picking players is so that their attempts arent in vain...Greg Inglis can be stopped its more than possible but you need to be smart about it. First and foremost you need to be really smart in how you approach this task and you need to play someone who can tackle (preferably an outstanding one-on-defender) and someone who can make smart decisions in defence..ideally you want that whole right side to have defensive nous because its nullifying Inglis is not a one man job. Those right-edge defenders need to get into position early in order to cut off the pass to Inglis with the right-winger also needing to adjust in order to defuse those cross-field kicks from Cronk and Thurston. Those players also need to communicate and work effectively with Hayne in defence at fullback! To be blunt..if NSW tries to fight fire with fire and go toe to toe with QLD in attack, NSW is going to come off second best. QLD have the more talented attacking players. The way to beat them is through defense like in Game 1 and sadly I dont think Dugan and Will Hopoate offer that!

Agree with you 100% with that...I dont know if its just me or does it seem that hes carrying a few excess kg's around the belly? Hes still a handful but last season he was out of this world..the site of him in full flight, striding out against a staggered line from kick returns must have been the most frightening sight for any footballer defending against him last season!

Dugan & Hopoate both played origin before, and both have shown they can match it with QLD in Origin, no brainer really, though James McManus is very unlucky IMO. remember these guys only got picked as the Morris boys are out injured.

Gallen as starting Prop is abit questionable but then again, Gallen has done it and shown he can match it regardless what number he has on his back.

1 week to go, cant f**ken wait. hopefully NSW win the series, its all going in their favour but dont count out QLD.

Why does every souffs fan have it in for Dugan? Were they secretly hoping John Sutton would get picked to play at centre?

So Dugan/Hopoate are gonna have to stop Dave Taylor running on the edges too! Body on the line lads! Stop that coal train!

just have to stop a decent roll on and succesion of quick play the balls to make the coal train disappear. Will only run if you are back peddling and are more then 25kg lighter then him. If the defence is there and up in their face he'll throw darius in to take a hitup instead

This. Dave might cause some problems if we are backpeddling down field and he gets at Dugan or Hoppa with no help, even then its still only maybe.
