If they're serious

6. Carney
7. Reynolds

Mullen would've been up there too if he wasn't injured at present but he wont be returning for a few weeks yet and wont have much game time under his belt (Not sure how long hes out??)

Mullen won't be considered this year- not with only a couple of games at best under his belt

Without Mullen I'd love to see:

7. Sezer
6. Carney

14. Kelly OR no utility (with Bird in the team)

It shouldn't be a problem having two 5/8s in the halves. Robbie Farah is so dominant that he plays like a halfback at times anyway with his organisational skills and those wrap arounds with the props where he ends up being a 2nd/3rd receiver.

Reynolds will not be a good fit in Origin. I watched him intently in the NRL All Stars vs Indigenous side last year and he looked lost in that match. Sure it was only one match but that was close to a rep game as you could get. Throw him into a SOO match and he will struggle.
The game where they were interchanging halves players every five minutes? Even Cameron Smith looked terrible in that game

Reynolds wouldn't be my choice but the only rep game you can judge him on is City vs Country where he was close to MOTM

Halves isn't an interesting discussion. They might have payed below par last year but Pearce and Maloney won the Grand Final so they are getting auto selection again

How abut outside backs

I reckon

1. Hayne
2. Hopoate
3. Jennings
4. Walker
5. Dugan

Walker is nowhere near Origin ready and Dugan is worthless on the wing (I'd even go so far as to say him.on the wing is a weakness)...

I'd look at:
1. Dugan
2. Who knows? If Hoppa is playing well, him, otherwise may Tafua?
3. Jennings
4. Hayne
5. B.Morris

We've had decent backlines for a while, problem is that they don't get quality ball because the halves have sucked...

Walker might be abit early but I remember when Hopoate got an early debut and killed it. Good defensively and has inside knowledge of Inglis ;-)

I didn't rate Dugan at fullback last year, Hayne is much more effective. If we don't have Hayne I'd prefer Stewart at fullback

Taufua is a good choice if he is eligible though

You want both Dugan and Hayne in your team. Both are match winners and to beat QLD you need a couple of guys who can pull the rabbit out of the hat. Hayne just happens to be brilliant at almost any position whereas Dugan is really only a fullback. Hayne will be one centre this year. And Dugan or Stewart will be the fullback.

Dugan is overrated at Origin level. Good player but he's too much of a ball-hog and stifles our attack. We had some genuine opportunities out wide last year but he ruined them by going himself. If it was Hayne there, he would have thrown those passes because he's one of the best ball-playing fullbacks in the game and he backs himself at the right times.

Dugan is not a proven anything except trouble maker. Hayne is light years ahead of him as a fullback and withhoppa being able to fill that void of centre or winger then Dugan can either try and beat hayne for the spot or not play at all.

You do not weaken on position to strengthen another

Walker? Not a chance.

If everyone is fit, you have 1. Dugan, 2. Morris, 3. Jennings, 4. Hayne and the only position up for grabs is right wing. Hayne needs to be right centre, as he's the best we have and the next best is nowhere near him. Meanwhile Duges and Stewart when fit aren't far off him for fullback.

My front runner for the right wing would be Will Hopoate. But it depends on his form near Origin 1.

1. Hayne
2. B. Morris
3. Jennings
4. Hopoate
5. McManus/Mansour (two very safe and reliable wingers who also are great in attack)

I wanted to suggest Mansour but thought it might seem biased. I think he and Taufua could be real assets to the team with their hit up metres and tackle breaks. Mansour is also great at having a hand free to offload, so with Hayne inside him that could be a great combination. But Hoppa would still be my first choice for the right wing if he finds form. He's a potential match winner and a genuine superstar.

NSW with Dugan at fullback, 0/3.

Match winner.

Safe is not the word I would use to describe Mansour. Powerful and quick sure, but he can be a liability

The problem is Pearce being seen as a lock-in no matter how many times he fails. I have no problems with Maloney getting another go, but Pearce being an auto-pick means Mullen, Carney, and Reynolds, all superior players, just can't get a look-in. It is f**king ridiculous.

But he won a premiership, and Origin doesn't matter.

Right Roosters fans??
