After losing Bird and Fifita I would go

1. Hayne
2. Morris
3. Morris
4. Jennings
5. Tupou
6. Reynolds
7. Hodkinson
8. Gallen
9. Farah
10. Tamou
11. Lewis
12. Cordner
13. Watmough

14. Merrin
15. Woods
16. T Sims/Klemmer
17. Jackson

We are really a prop short IMO losing Fifita, I would put in either Tariq Sims or (maybe because I am biased) David Klemmer, he gets 10m every run and has provided great go forward off the bench for us. Went for Hodkinson because I think he is playing better than Adam Reynolds at the moment, Mullen could be another option though who has a better general kicking game. I want Josh Jackson in the team because he is in outstanding form and can cover hooker or centre if we get an injury and Lewis can cover the halves so we don't need a stupid utility who will get a token 10 minutes because he was picked so he has to go on the field at some point.

Josh Reynolds is in good form but he is such a turnstile, and he proved it in the City Country game

I know but have Josh Morris outside him and Luke Lewis inside him and we sould be able to hide him pretty effectively from big men running at him.

Not infraction notices but show cause letters, there won't be any provisional suspensions or anything for a while IMO

IMO the only two options for this is to play either A Reynolds or Hodkinson at halfback with J Reynolds at 5/8. Josh has to be our number 6, his form is so much better than every other option. Hodkinson and A Reynolds are also in pretty good form and I don't think we will lose anything over what Pearce has provided us

If we have to pick someone for goalkicking it should be a winger not a half. Laurie will pick Maloney so it probably doesnt matter but if he doesnt I wouldnt be letting goalkicking be the deciding factor for picking a half.

If maloney isnt picked and we need to squeeze a kicker in put Michael Gordon on the wing, he will let no one down.

Hoppa probably should be in the mix for the right side. Laurie would be seriously considering it watching how well he links with Hayne at FB down the right side. And it's not like Hoppa will get the gig just because of a combination. He is one of the best backs in the state. Surely no argument about that.

Probably dependent on who is selected in the halves, i.e., goal kicker. I'd say Laurie will lean towards selecting a half who will be a goal kicker which will remove the need to select Richards on the left wing because of his goal kicking.

Either way, goal kicker is a shit dilemma for Laurie. He has to select an inferior player somewhere on the field to other options he may have IMO in order to accommodate one.

Bugger that, Id give the goal kicking to Hayne even though he is not all that flash at it. NSW wont be beating Qld with conversions, they need to put on tries

Halves will defend at L3 & R3.

And Pearce is left, Maloney right.

but yes. the realism hits hard.

however, considering the strength of backrowers we have, I'd say Gallen will be named as a prop with Tamou again like last series. Watmough could get bumped up into a starting middle forward role. Lewis switched over to the left edge to accommodate Scott starting on the right with a bench along the lines of Merrin, Cordner, Woods and one other.

With the massive loss of Bird & Fifita, as well as the ??? hanging over Pearce, the options have really opened up with the composition and positioning within the squad.

Considering Maloney defends on the left and Pearce on the right for the Roosters, if they both get picked, why would Daley reverse where they line up defensively?

you are absolutely correct, sir.

Just checked several pieces of footage on youtube and I must've been thinking of the roosters pre-maloney and just continued to assume. Pearce was a left side player and Carney on the right back then. Pearce was a left-side player for NSW too (as Carney got picked as well) and I remember several link ups with Jennings and Hayne on that side, but it changed last season with Maloney in the team where they played the same sides as they do with the Roosters. Pearce right; Maloney left.

Yeah lets debut Peats at Origin in a position he has never played:lol:

Actually sounds like something NSW would do

and Inglis running directly at him.

Can't go into the match thinking one strength will cover another weakness.

Nowhere to hide in origin.

well, that is unless you're a Fulton selection special - the utility.

I agree. Pick the best team based on general play attributes required, and worry about the goal kicking at the end.

I just reckon Laurie will put a large emphasis on a player's goal kicking ability......particularly with the halves.
