It was a great win for Norths in the SG Ball. Our forwards dominated the match.

Try scorers were De Vries 2, Egan, England, Maseuli, Valentino, Barnes. McGrady kicked 3 goals.

For Souths Lee Hang scored 2, Akauola plus one other.

Halftime score was 22-10.

In Harold Matthews, halftime score was 18-0. Norths got it back to 18-6 before Souths ran away with it.

Second rower Arnold Woulf was the clear standout, scoring three tries.

Is there a change in the rules this year?

I noticed only 4 players on each teams bench. In the past they could have as many players as they wish on the bench, with only 4 allowed to be used in the match.

Thats correct Girvie

We only got told today that you can only name a 17 man squad on the day (even though there were in excess of that named in the program for most teams)

The only teams that named 17 were the inter-state sides Gold Coast and Melbourne.

I reckon they've probably done it to be fair to them, because they would only take 17 for their away matches.

I like the old system. If an outside back gets injured you could replace them with an outside back. Now if an outside back gets injured there will be more pressure to play while injured.

A few years ago they had 7 on the bench, so a full squad of 20. All 20 players could play and there was unlimited interchange. So it's a big change in only a couple of years.

Alistair Beale is an electric little player. Younger cousin of Kurtly who plays for the Waratahs. Samson Sene is a HUGE frontrower that is a devastating ball carrier. Blake Austin would be one of the better locks in the comp, as tough as they come.

Plus the players that Murraymob mentioned. Seijka however may find himself in the 20's when that season kicks off. Played a few games last year in the 20's despite being Harold Mats age in 08.

I'm hearing Knights had a huge win in pouring rain in Matts

I think it was pouring rain everywhere!;-)

Just as an add-on to my earlier post re. Jets/Dogs...Dogs lead 16-14 with 3 mins to play, fumbled in their own end and Jets scored soon after.
