Hick was amazing...

ND have a history - Hick, Maynard - was it ND that had Winston Davis too?

Of course there have been a few marquee locals - Hadlee, Crowe, Turner, Cairns :D

Saw the first day of Canterbury vs Otago at QEII Park.

Pretty good standard of play. Saw Myburgh get 100 and left with Fulton in the 70s.

They both ended up with Tonnes and out soon after. Kruger Van Wyk retired hurt and was batting well I understand.

greg hay got 164 not out, he's in great form! todd had another decent innings of 54, he would be pushing for a spot in the test side i would think.

Andre Adams says he wants back in the test team... not bad given he turned down the natinoal team a couple of weeks ago because he doesn't like the coach.

>>>>> F off son, no chance. Take your half tracker long hop pies elsewhere.

PS: How the f**k does a long hop specialist military medium pacer get hauls of wickets like he does in New Zealand first class cricket?? That's hella bad... maybe we need to do what England have done, and look at our first class structure, maybe we need to go down to 4 first class teams?????

Andre Adams said he didn't want to play in the ODI side but always wanted to be in the test team.

You can't really ignore how he has been going though. 29 wickets at 8 a piece. He would have to be very close to a spot in the 1st test against Bangladesh.

Also Hay is averaging something like 55 in first class cricket now and Bell just scored another hundred is averaging around 90 so far this season.

Surely Matthew Bell has done enough to secure one test opener's spot.

I like the look of Hay, but maybe he should be left to piling on the runs...

Hay struggled with the pace, but then again they all did.

He looked more like a 5 day player than an ODI player to me.

Matthew Bell is playing domestic cricket here... you might mean Sinclair or pehaps How?

I loved Vetorri's comment about it not being just the pace, but good bowling... while it was good bowling, it's not real cricket. That being said, his comment was bollocks, as NZ teams have been undone badly by extreme pace, good, bad and plain horrible - we continually make quick bowlers (Lee, Tait, Steyn, Zahid, Sami, Ahktar, Malinga, Edwards etc etc) look like world beaters, regardless of whether they are or not (as is the case withy most if not all of those bowlers)

Hay went and played some cricket in Australia during the offseason I think.

Bell ended up 208* and has scored 665 runs so far this season @ 110.

I'm still unsure about what Twizzle was referring to

But surely Bell has done enough to be the first opener chosen - the silly stance has gone, and he's in form and has scored a test century before...

bell ended with 265, not bad lol. another young gun has arrived, batter who can bowl worker, hes 18 and scored 70odd on debut for central. twizzle is thinking of how. it will be interesting to see the test team v banga, bell, todd, fulton, adams all pushing hard for places, along with sinclair, taylor and how.

Bell was out for 265

Hay is one i am keeping an eye on for the future, Flynn is another.

Have seen a wee bit of Corey Anderson and he looks the goods, hopefully we don't try and rush him along. Kane Williamson is another one to keep an eye on, made his ND debut and only made 2 and 0, but i read an article saying something about how he is only 16-17 and has already scored over 25 100s.

Andre should def be looked at for the test side if he keeps bowling the way he is

whats flynn like? and has anyone seen aucks mckay? hes been getting some wickets lately.
my 13 for the first test atm would be

flem
vettori
mills
how
oram
styris
mccullum
gillespie
fulton
sinclair
bell
adams
martin.

taylor needs a spell, bell needs another go, adams must be very close. gilly might just get in, im happy both ways really. fultons only played a game or 2 and already has a 100. its only bangladesh any way, so i reckon switch things up a bit.

bell
how
sinclair
flem
styris
oram
mccullum
adams
vettori
mills
martin/fulton

that bats really low, which i dont think we really need, so maybe switch fulton for martin or gilly.

Bell is demanding selection basically for the test matches....

Jamie How
Michael Papps/Mathew Bell - I still think Papps needs another go, the season he had previous to this deserves some stability in selection
Peter Fulton
Stephen Fleming
Scott Styris
Jacob Oram
Brendon McCullum
Daniel Vettori
Kyle Mills
Mark Gillespie
Chris Martin

12th man: Jeetan Patel

No, Andre's comments reflected that he didn't enjoy it in the New Zealand cricket team around John Bracewell. IMO he's not that good to come in and create internal chaos. He's had reasonable seasons before, gone to the ODI scene and bowled 125-130k half tracker dribble and gone for 50-60 consistently.
