Just on the nbn. They are way off in there pricing for the consumer. I wouldn't switch from my $60 unlimited adsl2+ for any of the plans on offer. That's why the uptake is so low in areas it's been rolled out in so far.

Oh really, without the nbn I'd say id be getting 4g, the nbn just means the telcos are not spending up on 4g for regional areas.

Anyway you missed the point optus 3g 1.7mbps, nbn sat claimed 6mbps but delivers 1mbps.

A quantum leap backwards

But at least you got the Tax Free Threshold.

Hang on I'll get in touch with Comrade Honourable Reefy Son to answer your question for you. He has offered advise to me about living outside of Brisbane or Sydney and expecting the bestus National Broadband Service.

Or would you like me to dig up his replies / advice .

He knows everything after all.

Just need to prebrief him on somethings though. Can you answer some initial questions.

Are you a hippy,

Are you a Commo

Are you a bludger on the Guv'ment

Do you have solar power panels

Do you have a wind turbine

Do you vote for any other party other than the LNP

Did you contribute to a slush fund for the LNP, if not, why not

Do you have photos of your past four election voting slips before you inserted them into the voting boxes

That might do for stage one.

no I am not better off Quigs, and this year the low income rebate has been reduced greatly and if you actually do the sums, you have to earn over $55,000 to be better of at tax time

I am still calling crap Ratty....

but while you are contemplating that and Surely is waiting for the slow download on his NBN satellite ... here is a very good read.

Easy solutions and complex realities

For all household types except pensioners, the growth in cost of living in the past year has actually been less than the inflation rate, with pensioners' cost of living increasing by 2.3 per cent compared to 2.2 per cent for the CPI.

Yes thats what happens when a govt f**ks up an economy, jobs dissapear, people stop spending.

Unfortunately inflation has always helped people build equity in their homes, not anymore.

And interest rates will always be lower under the Noalition Guvment.

Thats why the Fibs have had tripple A ratings all their existence. Every bloody time they are in Guv'ment and not the other bad bad Guvment, they will have lower interest rates.

1. ALP prevented GFC here (with policies the noalition opposed)
2. Interest rates at record lows
3. Unemployment is low
4. Abbott = workchoices = job insecurity
5. NBN – the economic rescue package for rural and regional australia youll never see from the Nationals.

SURELY - TODAYS MEDIA RELEASE..

Faster internet for the bush as NBN Co doubles internet speeds

06 February 2013

NBN Co today unveiled plans to bring even faster internet to the bush by doubling the wholesale broadband speeds it will deliver to rural and remote Australia.

More than half a million homes, farms and businesses eligible to receive the NBN's Fixed-Wireless and Long Term Satellite services will be able to take advantage of wholesale download speeds of up to 25 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps*.

The faster speeds are planned to be available over the Fixed-Wireless network as early as June. The Long Term Satellite Service is scheduled to launch in 2015.

In a boost to rural communities, the new speed tier will provide wholesale upload speeds up to five times faster than available to Satellite and Fixed-Wireless users over the NBN today (1 Mbps)*.

It will also deliver double the wholesale download speeds currently available over the Fixed-Wireless service (12 Mbps) and a more than threefold increase in wholesale download speeds compared to today's Interim Satellite Service (currently 6 Mbps). See chart below.

In addition, the wholesale prices for internet service providers who retail NBN packages to rural broadband users will be pegged at the same rate as they are for fibre users in the cities: $27 per month for the 25/5Mbps service and $24 for the 12/1Mbps service respectively. NBN Co has already committed to reducing wholesale broadband prices in real terms.

NBN Co Chief Executive Mike Quigley said: "Every home and business in Australia - from the outback to the city - will have access to fast internet at speeds as good as or faster than ADSL2+ services available in metropolitan areas today.[ii]

"That will give people in the most isolated parts of the country access to economic and social opportunities that the rest of the country takes for granted. For instance, faster speeds will allow people in regional communities to work from home like they would from a big city office, access video-based health services and make high-quality video calls to family and friends.

"Just as importantly, the NBN is helping to foster real competition, and that drives affordable prices for consumers. Every provider has equal access to the network and NBN Co's prices are the same in the city and the bush."

The rollout of the Fixed-Wireless and Long-Term Satellite services aim to cover around seven per cent of the nation's premises. Both are on track to be substantially completed by the end of 2015. The rollout of the optical fibre network is scheduled to be completed by 2021.

More information on the rollout of the NBN is available at www.nbnco.com.au/rollout/rollout-map or by calling 1800 OUR NBN (1800 687 626)

Here's Senator Conroy for you to Surely... issued just this very date...

Crikey - they must of heard you.

Media Release

Senator the Hon Stephen Conroy
Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy
Leader of the Government in the Senate
Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on Digital Productivity
Faster broadband for regional and remote Australia

The Gillard Government today announced that all Australians will now have access to faster speeds on the National Broadband Network than they can get today over the ageing copper network, following an upgrade to the NBN’s fixed wireless and satellite services.

The NBN’s fixed wireless and long term satellite services will be upgraded to provide broadband speeds of 25 megabits per second download and 5 megabits per second upload (25/5 Mbps).

“This means that people living in regional and remote Australia will be able to access significantly faster speeds than what is available now through ADSL services,” Senator Conroy said.

“This upgrade represents a doubling of speeds for the NBN’s fixed wireless and satellite services.

“It will lead to improved education and health services for regional and remote Australia, as well as greater opportunities for small businesses and agriculture. It will allow high-quality video conferencing, making it easier to work remotely.

“For too long, people living in regional and rural Australia have had to put up with slow, unreliable internet services—if they could get a connection at all.

“The Government’s investment in the NBN means all Australians, no matter where they live, will have access to faster broadband services. Like water and electricity, the Gillard Government sees fast broadband as an essential utility that should be made available to all Australians.”

“The price for customers for the 25/5 Mbps service on fixed wireless and satellite will be the same as that charged for 25/5 Mbps fibre services at around $40 per month.
“The Government is delivering on its commitment of uniform national wholesale pricing for broadband services. This means people living in regional and remote Australia will pay the same prices for NBN services as people in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
“The 25/5 Mbps service will be available by mid-2013 on the fixed wireless network and from the start of operation of the long term satellite service in 2015.”

Be alright if we were only subsiding the parasites a few cents each year, but it turns out that decent Australians will be paying thousands of dollars a yer for many years to subsidise the useless elelement of socitety so they can pirate faster.
