I know I get things cheaper here, rent, food etc. I expect to pay more for non essential services like lightning fast Broadband. I do not epect the rest of Australia to be subsidising me. I am not a parasite.

When you paid by card for your accommodation plus bar fridge plus phone calls plus movie hire .... did your account have the classification of the movie that you watched in house on your account.

One of my new friends on the lefty bloggy social networking thingy has just done a bit of basic investigative research into the list of charges.

BASIC FACT CHECKING I WOULD ASSUME.

Just crunched some of the numbers on the Thomson charges. I come up with 99 separate instances cited, coming to a total of $25,239.25


There are 11 separate instances of Thomson allegedly buying cigarettes.



There are 23 instances of him allegedly paying for in-house movies (mostly, not not entirely, porn).



There are 13 instances of him allegedly withdrawing cash on the card.



That comprises 47 of the 99 alleged instances.


5 relate to buying petrol.



4 relate to parking.


17 plane trips.



10 relate to dining out.



3 car hire.



2 taxi trips.



4 accommodation at hotels.


And the 7 visits to ladies of the night.



My new friend also commented ..... I make no claims for complete accuracy, but that’s very close to final totals and expenses, at any rate.

He forgot to mention the $75,000 phonecard bill that Thommo lent to his son to use ... hang on sorry that was another former parliamentarian.

There is a great big difference. A big big difference.

Lets just say that for example you are obtain the high ranking position of Director in the Peoples Co-op of Emu Park. Now as part of that job you are issued with a Peoples Co-op of Emu Parks Credit Card to be used during your official business. You have a company car you travel around - road trips - interstate flights - late at night - need cigs - need some cash for expenses - pay for parking.

Now lets just say that the Peoples Co-op Of Emu Park has no written guidelines on the use of that card and over a period of time you drive the company car - go on company trips - eat drink and be merry at times and use the company card, bearing in mind there are no official guidelines on how to use the card.

I as a Director at the time get your invoices - tick them off as being okayed .... oh bloody hell Ads must of been short of cash blah blah blah... I dont give a shit as there are no written guidelines.

Just saying.

Now you put in your accounts - or the Peoples Co-op of Emu Park tick the payments, don't question the payments and life goes on.

Now lets just say that you in your opinion considered all your expenses no matter what they were for whilst you are away .... are considered above board. They might be morally wrong but you have not technically broken any rules.

Now no set rules ... nothing in writing.... no set guidelines..... (might be morally wrong but not illegal)

They never took it away ... you could of claimed it in your taxation return as expenses. If you had the dockets / receipts if needed then you could always claim school expenses. The schoolkid bonus is just a payment to parents inplace of them attempting to claim it on their tax. Low income earners don't need submit a tax return now so a lot just got what they were entitled to and into their accounts in January.

A lot of people missed out because they didn't keep dockets. Good Guv'ment looking after the punters Ayyy
