O/T: Foran, Rothfield and Hayson

If he is allowed to play in 2017 its a farce.

Well O'Sullivan lost his NRL accreditation and all he was alleged to have done was to allow Hayson to use his personal account to transfer winnings.

Hayson needed to be able to deposit and withdraw money from gambling winnings into O'Sullivan's bank account, given he couldn't have one. He has an account with a building society.

It was alleged that Foran had kinda done the same thing. So realistically there is no way that Foran's involvement with the same person can be overlooked. This is one allegation.

Inquiries by police with local betting agencies also found that corporate bookmaker Ladbrokes rejected an attempted deposit of $30,000 into Foran's account there this year. It is understood that the organisation had grown increasingly concerned about publicity surrounding the player's gambling and declined to accept the deposit. The size of the deposit was also understood to be out of character for Foran's account.

Here is another.

The Daily Telegraph reports former NRL player Liam, Hayson and another associate in Frank Farrugia won $41,000 from the match, which was only won by the Eels 22-10 after scoring three tries in the final five minutes. It is believed the dividend was then re-laid on a winning horse called Brazen, with part of those winnings deposited into Kieran’s TAB account by Liam.

It's gonna come down to what they think they can establish is going on. Obviously, if they find evidence of inside info being passed on by a player, that player should not play for a long time (if ever), and if a result has been affected then it's not just a life ban, it's a criminal charge. If they reckon that Player X is simply allowing someone to use their identity on an account, either b/c the principal can't get an account with the betting agency, or b/c you want to spread the wagers around to reduce the chance that the odds change, that's a bit less clear. Rightly or wrongly, if that is all that is alleged then a player would have a good chance of challenging an extended ban on those grounds.

unless the account is being used to bet on NRL games which all players are banned from doing

Now, I'm no scientician, but wouldn't that be classed as rigging the odds?

Well, not necessarily. Bookies try to infer information from the pattern of betting, and from the identity (or supposed identity) of people trying to place large bets. So, if the owner of a horse comes and wants to put $50,000 on it to win a Kempsey maiden, he'll find it harder to get set than if he used commission agents to spread the bets. In other cases, bookies just refuse to deal with some punters who are 'good'.

 Nah just lucky to get the opportunity to talk to such Superstars on our little community radio show.
I interviewed David Furner and Mick Cronin earlier in the year. Hope to get David Sakker on later..
BTW, I am nervous about the interview with Hughie, even though he is a country boy (from Dunedoo) and has no inflated ego....

Ask him what it's like to ride a superstar like Wings. Then you'll have his respect, and he might tell you which jockey earns the most.

I know, mate. Was just a joke about earning his respect by getting the name wrong.

Where does Blake Shinn sit on the pecking order? A fraction behind?
