Off Season Update

Hi All

Just some off season regarding the Warriors.

Haven't touched a ball yet and have been getting absolutely hammered in fitness by Ruben.

Fittest forward at the moment is Jerry Latimore.

One of the training methods applied is that everyone must do 4 laps of the footy field under 5 mins and when it was first done a few weeks back, every outside back failed including guys like Ropati, McKinnion, etc and Latimore was the only forward who did it.

That same test was conducted just as the boys left for their Christmas break and every passed it.

Beep test results have been slow early off and when last done, everyone improved by at least 2 stages.

Big Manu, McKinnion and Ropati have stripped off massive body fat with Russell Parker showing a lot of committment at training.

The boys are enjoying training as Ruben knows not only how to gain the respects of the players but also as a former player knows the boundaries and capabilities of each individual.

Some positive signs for the Warriors.

that's shocking, probably is a factor in why we were so sh*thouse last year. good to see some steps the right way.

Rubes doesn't mess around.

It was pretty obvious watching them last year that they were physically unprepared for the season.

The natural talent is there, and for guys like Rapira, Ropati, Manu, Matulino etc, these guys don't need bulking up as they're naturally big boys. What they needed was the endurance, speed and coordination to make the most of their bulk for the time they were on the field.

Very positive noises coming out of the team from the sounds of things.

Early signs of improvement and maybe a top eight spot. Would be great.

Merry Christmas Warriors fans and hopefully a Warriors kick ass New Year.

Don't really want be the Christmas Grinch, but talk of top eight may be a little premature. They were lacking much more than just fitness last season.

Fitness plus a game plan would be a top start.

one question Jodeci.
Is Tate running freely?

Not sure. I'll find out more then likely this weekend.

Matulino even though toured with the kiwi's has not been given that extra leave until the new year like most other clubs hav done with their players who featured in the end of year season trip.

just to add, the Warriors have brought in extra sessions regarding alcohol related matters as well as social behaviours.

Conducting in house sessions and training on what can happen in the public eye, etc

This has all been brought in when Brett Seymour joined the club and he has a policy of if he is found with any alcohol, gone

Who goes out there to put in the hard yards at the start of pre-season? Anyone with any cunning knows to slyly pace themselves in the early testing to then step it up with the follow on testing protocols. As they say, you can never teach an old dog new tricks.

So any positives here are really only false positives.
