Switch Waterhouse and Creagh for Hindmarsh and O'Donnell. Much better.
Interchange Waterhouse, Creagh and Leoroyd-Lahrs with Weyman, White and O'Donnell. Gallen and Hindmarsh play full 80, switching between front row and back row.

Intersting team. Better than game 1. Gallens in and we have a proper 5/8th thats a big step forward. I think hindmarsh should start and creagh or waterhouse to the bench. But overall happier with that team than game 1.

Much better team than game 1. The backline they got right. Timana is much better suited to wing, and Scott won't be caught out of position in defence like our right side was continually in game 1. Barrett and Pearce is a vastly superior combination to Lyon and Kimmorley. The only real question is why we have 5 backrowers who are all 80 minute players, and only 1 part-time prop on the bench. Oh, and why we have our captain on the bench. But then again, if that's what it takes to get Gidley out of fullback and Hayne there instead, I'm happy to roll with it. White does worry me, but I'm guessing Bellamy knows something none of us do. Perhaps he's better suited to a starting role than coming off the bench? Who knows.

White starting prop for NSW is embarrassing.

Hindmarsh on the bench when the starting second row could all almost play 80 mins and then you still have another second rower also on the bench in the form of O'Donnell is just stupid.

What's the f**ken point of having Hindmarsh on the bench, it's not like he's gonna make any impact, seems like he just got picked to appease the media

What's the f**ken point of having Waterhouse in the side at all? He's not going to do anything at all! Seems like he just got picked as to not hurt his feelings.

Definitely a superior line up to Game 1.

Jarryd Hayne to fullback is a big move in itself. NSW have struggled for a dominant fullback since the days of Minichiello, his selection will make them a much larger threat than they have been in that time.

Barrett and Pearce into the halves gives them more variety with the ball in hand.

I believe those selections will really boost the quality of the side and Game 2 isn't going to be such a cake walk for the Maroons.

Better then game 1 but seriously:

2 80min backrowers on the bench?!

No props on the bench?

Nsw pick 2 props and one of them is Brett white? Is he one of nsw's 2 best props??

You are absolutely kidding yourself if you dont think that defense is important
this is origin mate, the QLDers have play makers that SPECIALISE in isolating defenders and getting big men hitting holes around them. If you cant tackle you are a liability, it doesnt matter how good your team or attitude is

i think its you who has forgotten how to play the game. If you cant be relied apon to make crutial one on one tackles, then you arent SOO material, because in SOO footy, if your soft defensively the quality of players you are up against will find away to isolate you in the line and exploit your weakness

no offense but that was some of the craziest stuff i've ever seen written on this forum. And you dont even have the excuse of taking the piss to fall back on.
If you need proof, go back and watch game 1 again and watch the way the QLD's isolated Idris and forced him to make decisions, decisions they knew would likely be the wrong option. They were right, he was exploited and it netted them two easy tries

Where on earth did I say that defence isnt important?

I said that a player shouldnt be selected BECAUSE of his defence but I can see the NON selection of a player because of his LACK of defence. When I look at selecting an Origin team, I WILL NOT select a player based solely on attack or defence.

lol... i can't believe they named the captain on the bench. why not just give the captaincy to Barrett... or start Hindmarsh and give it to him? it's obviously where Gidley belongs... but i mean wtf?

i suppose it's out of respect to Gidley and respect alone. whatever, the right thing has been done.

either way, it's a better team than game 1, i agree with most. clearly they won't gel as well as they could have... and where the f**k are the bench props? TLL is the only one! perhaps Gallen will move into the front row at times?

hopefully they can get up and smash the QLDer's. i think the best thing about this game 2 team is the excess of aggression and testosterone that it boasts. i expect Gallen, O'Donnell and co to absolutely belt the living piss out of QLD. if they can do that, then theres a slight hope for a square up. at the very least i expect this game to be more intense and entertaining.

If there is not a fight in this game, as there wasn't in the first one, then they can all go and get f**ked.

The main problem will be no specialist prop on the bench. Weyman cant play long minutes and white i imagine wouldnt provide a massive amount of go forward. TLL will go on as prop and im assuming hindmarsh or waterhouse might have to play a prop type of role aswell

I don't think Scott and Coops are up to this myself. That and Gidley are my main concerns but a lot happier with it than game ones abortion of an outfit.

If Gidley was half a man, he would resign as captain for the good of the state
i'm sorry, but that's a load of sh*t.

if the selectors had balls they would take it off him, though.

i would never hand back such an honour filled title without a fight, especially when i had done everything i could within my ability to live up to it. no man that had any pride in themselves would.
