their 1 -> 5 is pretty bloody ordinary, though.

it's all going to come down to how well their 6 and 7 go. sutton is quality... but if sandow can't be a success behind that forward pack he needs to seek alternative employment.

Wesser is getting long in the tooth and there are some question marks (particularly defensive ones) around Champion, but what's wrong with the other three?

Merritt and Best would cut it in almost any team in the comp (except maybe the Eels), while Talanoa is hardly below par.

If Wesser rediscovers some form, that could even be considered a good backline ... only short of one quality centre.

i think bests best form is already past him... merritt i definitely rate, great player. wesser is definitely past it. i've never taken much notice of talanoa, so he's a bit of an unknown quantity to me personally. he's certainly never stood out to me, though. he's probably not below par, but he wouldn't be above it either. champion is just ordinary, really.

merritt would walk into any team in the comp on the wing just about though, you are correct.

in all honesty though, i would expect your backline to score a great deal of tries behind that pack. scott minto would probably look a million bucks behind those blokes... so it probably wont affect souths too much. once again it all really depends on what their halves do.
