I'm hoping that's Joseph Paulo on the bench? Jnr is way too good to be playing anything but FG.

At this stage I reckon Joseph Paulo will be our utility (14). Junior Paulo is still young and still has plenty of shit games left in him, and we have several tight forwards better than him on contract next year:

Mannah
Lussick
Mossop
Allgood
Moimoi (maybe)

Earlier today I listed the players on Eels contracts (so far) for next year. At full strength our Wenty side could look like this:

1. Somemerkin
2. Radradra
3. Morgan
4. Wiliame
5. Toutai
6. Pewhairangi
7. Kelly
8. Ualesi
9. Pritchard
10. Moimoi
11. Harrison
12. Mau
13. Ryan

14. Santi
15. Ma'afu
16. Paulo
17. Alvaro

If moi moi is poised to play in wenty next year, I dare say he wouldve been tapped on the shoulder at this stage. Can't see it happening.

We might be playing Lussick at lock again, in which case Moimoi comes into the prop rotation and Terepo or Joseph Paulo gets arseholed to reserve grade.

I reckon Paulo's utility value will keep him in first grade, especially if we don't sign another hooker.

Utility value???

The only thing he does good is skip across the field.

Should of been part of the dirty dozen.

Mate, 'middle half'.

Plus he can also play left half and edge forward.

Should of been part of the dirty dozen.

He was one of our best in the month before Melbourne. Made 100 metres every week, and that's not counting sideways metres.

Also one of our best for LBAs this year.

If Paulo gets an extended run next year, than we are in for another long season.

Provides no impact off the bench.

Can't defend

Plus with Norman, hayne, hoppa, peats and sandow, not sure we require a 'middle half'.

Young players arn't going to come into NRL level perfectly ready, they need time to adapt and get use to the speed of the game. Playing NSW cup isn't going to help Junior develop his game, i've seen enough from him to say that he is going to be a very good first grader. Much better than Allgood.

Defence is the biggest downfall of Joseph's game and Parramatta's game this season. Too many opposition forward packs get a good role on through the middle cause our guys initial contact is so soft. Especially Joseph Paulo, he just isn't tough enough to play in a dominate forward pack. Let's hope that Peats and Mossop can tighten up that part of our defence.

And this idea of middle half? please! give me a Sam Burgess, FPN or Watmough style forward any day of the week.

It's more about being able to change the shape of the attack, which is handy when you're having trouble cracking the opposition in your current structure.

Anyway, we'll see what happens in 2014. I reckon Joseph Paulo would offer plenty in a stronger team.

Well Sticky disagreed with you in 2010: Stuart calls for league career paths to be redefined

And he was still disagreeing last week: Ricky Stuart: Time NRL calls in the reserves

Sticky said:
The NRL needs to address its salary cap structures so we can properly stock our NSW Cup teams as the second tier feeder to the NRL, with NYC to drop back a level and become the third tier feeder.

I?m so certain this is the way to go that next season Parramatta will be using our NSW Cup team as our first grade feeder.

In most cases players from NYC will have to come through our NSW Cup team, Wentworthville, before they play first grade.

i've seen enough from him to say that he is going to be a very good first grader. Much better than Allgood.

I agree. But that doesn't mean he'll be ready to play 20+ NRL games next year.

He should be moved to "outer" half which is his best position.

Lasalo, Mataele and Vaeau help get Wenty beyond halfway on their first set.

Fluke hoists a bomb but it sails long and is taken ingoals for a 20m restart.

The Cutters fights their way to halfway before stabbing a decent kick between the Wenty backs, forcing Wenty to retrieve in from their ingoals and fight their way back.

Wenty play out a solid set, which in turn, forces the Cutters to work it out from deep in their half.
