What has become of Wenty?
Where has this late season performance been all season?
There must be a few players playing NRL standard now. Who are they?

It's the return of team captain Taniela Lasalo that has lifted them. Eels contracted player Daniel Harrison also scored three tries today. We actually have pretty good depth.

I think both Delboy and yourself both have the truth of it. There has definitely been a cleanout of the roster, which has removed a number of stagnant players that were never going to push for first grade.

A few astute mid-season promotions/acquisitions in the likes of Walter Vaeu, Brendan McKinnon, Pat Mataele and most recently Isaac Maliota has injected some life into the squad.

The above, coupled with the return of Taniela Lasalo (who has been excellent in the front row) has finally given Wenty a foothold in the groundwar against the better packs in the NSW Cup and - for the greater part - shored up their defence.

While none of the names above currently screaming for first grade selection (although they are progressing nicely), with a good off season and early 2014 some of them might come into contention and at the very least they will give Wenty some quality in the roster.

I think your correct there he seems to have turned up out of the blue played mostly Sydney grade and RM cup

He could prove to be a handy pickup. He looked good out there today, busy around the ruck with some quality offloads.

His resume is decent: Roosters 2009 NYC Player of the Year and former Junior Kiwi, although good portions of his early career are marred by injury.

There's a guy that rings up the BSB regularly saying that Fluke should be playing 6 for the Eels and would fix our issues.....I'm assuming its a relative.....

Earlier today I listed the players on Eels contracts (so far) for next year. At full strength our Wenty side could look like this:

1. Somemerkin
2. Radradra
3. Morgan
4. Wiliame
5. Toutai
6. Pewhairangi
7. Kelly
8. Ualesi
9. Pritchard
10. Moimoi
11. Harrison
12. Mau
13. Ryan

14. Santi
15. Ma'afu
16. Paulo
17. Alvaro

If that was our Wenty side next year and our first grade side was exhibiting signs of consistency and competitiveness I would be f**king stoked.

Edit - Considering we would still potentially have Parata, Vaeu, Mataele etc to add to the extended roster. I'm assuming you are budgeting for Edwards featuring in first grade from your team list.

I'm hoping that's Joseph Paulo on the bench? Jnr is way too good to be playing anything but FG.

where is somemerkin from? It sounds like a South American name. Possibly Brazilian.

Yep. Edwards, Loko, Tanginoa edge forwards. But who knows what Sticky will do?

There is no player in our club in 2013, with the exception of Jarryd Hayne, who is not too good to be playing for Wenty. In fact I would say that most of our squad in 2013 is not alot higher than NSW Cup standard.
