It's the return of team captain Taniela Lasalo that has lifted them. Eels contracted player Daniel Harrison also scored three tries today. We actually have pretty good depth.
I think both Delboy and yourself both have the truth of it. There has definitely been a cleanout of the roster, which has removed a number of stagnant players that were never going to push for first grade.
A few astute mid-season promotions/acquisitions in the likes of Walter Vaeu, Brendan McKinnon, Pat Mataele and most recently Isaac Maliota has injected some life into the squad.
The above, coupled with the return of Taniela Lasalo (who has been excellent in the front row) has finally given Wenty a foothold in the groundwar against the better packs in the NSW Cup and - for the greater part - shored up their defence.
While none of the names above currently screaming for first grade selection (although they are progressing nicely), with a good off season and early 2014 some of them might come into contention and at the very least they will give Wenty some quality in the roster.
