Their is a deflecting off the Cutters kick which forces Herny Ralawui (sp) to dive on the ball under considerable pressure.

Mullaney gets the ball later in the set and rolls out to the left but loses the ball in contact.

Cutter's scrum 30m out from their line.

Edwards and Harrison are in line for first grade.

Cutters go down the short side on our left-edge, catching us napping but Wenty scramble well and force Cook into touch.

Wenty attack down our left edge as Mullaney links up with C.MacKenzi, good metres but the line holds.

A couple of tackles later, Wenty attack the same edge with the same players but this time Mullaney skips to the outside and brings MacKenzine back inside with a switch.

The Cutters are all over the place and Cecil slices through with ease.

Aaron Fluke makes it 14 in a row since coming into the NSW Cup this season, if I'm not wrong.

Wenty lead Illawarra 6-0

Lasalo and Vaeua perfrom their duties PROPerly as Wenty drive into the Cutter's half from the kickoff.

Solid set from Wenty, the Cutters are forced to work it out yet again.

There are some strong carries from the Cutters to get them on the front foot.

The set culminates with an attacking bomb by Dureau by Rawalui takes it well.

Hah, an ordinary kick from McKinnion at dummy half reaps undue rewards as Cook tries to trap it with his foot and it rolls past him. Despite the bad start to the set the Cutters break through the centre of the ruck with a double pump and short ball from a big man. Their is support for the Cutters and they cross under the posts.

Conversion is good.

Game is locked up at 6-all.

The Cutters follow up points with a great set. They kick on the last deep in Wenty's half but Reardon is well positioned to take the grubber kick.

Wenty pick up a fortuitous penalty to get them near halfway. There is some second phase play that gives Mullaney a chance to run the ball. He cuts through some flimsy defence and gets into open space. He tries to link up with support but he can't find anyone. He nearly gets tackled, gets up and goes again before finally getting pulled down 10m from the try line.

There is a fantastic tackle from an Illawarra outside back that causes a break in play as the Gilbert sucks in the big ones from the hit.

Once play resumes, Fluke rolls in a grubber towards the posts looking for Mullnaey. The Cutters have a man their first but he spills the ball backwards and Mullaney plants the ball down for one of the easier tries he will score.

Fluke hits the extras.

Wenty lead Illawarra 12-6.

18min gone.

Just wondering why we wouldn't wear the parra strip in 35 degree heat instead of the black one?

The only bloke on the field who is in next year's fulltime squad is Lorenzo Ma'afu.

And how is Edwards able to play NRL when the match impacts on Newcastle's finals chances?

Wenty lose the ball from the kickoff set.

Cutters scrum 20m out from out line.

The fullback Cook crosses out wide down our right-edge due to a combination of his speed and our laziness.

Soft defence from the scrum by Wenty.

The conversion is hit nicely from out wide.

The scores are locked up yet again at 12-all.

Rawalui brings to ball back from another strong set by the Cutters to get Wenty going.

Mullaney sends the ball up high after some good metres from the pack. The Cutters let it bounce and it comes back perfectly for MacKenzine. He tries to find support but loses it forwards trying to do so for a turnover.

Illawarra complete a good set by driving the ball dead for a 20m restart for Wenty before they are pulled back for a forward pass.

Cutters scrum 35m out from our line.

Wenty come away with a penalty as the Cutters lose the ball forwards into another player who catches it.

Another penalty comes to Wenty after they resume play and they restart things yet again in the opposition half.

Howard pops a nice offload to Mullaney down our left-edge, who then darts to the left and hits MacKenzie with a good ball. Cecil has some work to do with the scrambling defence but he crashes over in the corner.

Fluke's kick is just waved away, bringing his streak to an end.

Wenty lead Illawarra 16-12.

Bloody hell. Another mistake from Wenty after points! This time from the kickoff itself as McKinnon drops it cold.

Illawarra opt with some one-dimensional play that puts Wenty under little pressure given the circumstances.

The Cutters kick it to our left-edge on the last where they have numbers. The Cutters get the tap-back but the support loses it over the line and Wenty come away with 20m restart.

Mataele makes a fantastic charge down the right-edge, going twenty odd metres before the defence pulls him down.

Later in the set, Wenty look to attack down their right-edge but the pass from Fluke is off the mark and it rolls over the sideline.

Illawarra then pick up a penalty to take them to halfway.

We should offer a deal to pat Matalae similar to the one both Jerome and Gilbert are on... He's a bit of weapon on the right edge
