Parata is in the right place at the right time yet again to clean up a loose ball from Illawarra, he also manages to make 10 metres in the process.

Wenty ruck it out to halfway before looking to spark something with some second phase play. Ma'afu gets things underway but Fluke can't hold onto a second offload.

Illawarra scrum on halfway.

76min gone.

Herekutukutuku cleans up a Garvey grubber.

Wenty to attack down our right-edge but a long ball is called forwards. 50/50 call on the pass.

That was a f**king lovely strip by McKinnon.

He f**king corkscrewed the ball out of Hickey's hands.

Mataela makes a break! He has a man in front of him and finds his winger with a long pass. Reardon is pulled down but Wenty attack again, this time centrefield. Herekututuku looks for an inside runner and he finds one but there is some desperate cover defence and Wenty turn the ball over.

From the restart, Wenty give away a penalty and Illawarra ruck it out to finish the game.

Full Time

Illawarra dft. Wenty 30-28

While it was an entertaining game to watch, given their last month of footy Wenty would be disappointed with that result.

Mataele had an excellent game in the absence of his two senior backrow partners in Edwards and Harrison. He was ably assisted by Lorenzo Ma'afu while Dean Parata channeled the Energizer Bunny in defence.

There were too many errors and missed tackles in the end though. Wenty have built a good platform for their finals campaign over the last month and they wouldn't want the inconsistent effort from today to derail it.

I believe the NSW Cup follows the new finals format meaning 1v4, 2v3 - Week 1 semi finals and 5v8, 6v7 - Week 1 elimination finals.

Looking at the table, I believe we can only play Newtown or Windsor (they are jostling for fifth) in the first week of the finals unless the Wests-Tigers lose by 59 points or more in which case we will travel to New Zealand.

Geez hard one but I'd rather play Windsor at Windsor... I don't think we've won at Henson since god knows when

We came damn close midway through the season, blowing an early lead to lose 28-26 off the top of my head.

Will either of you guys be making the trip next week?

I am 99.99% a lock for next week. Should Wenty make it through to week two of the finals I will be out of commission if the game falls on Sunday the 22nd (Sister's wedding).

The game will either be at shark park (saturday) or Leichhardt (Sunday) .. I think there'll be double headers

Awesome.

Who do we have playing first-grade this week that will back up for the NSW Cup finals?

Daniel Harrison and Ken Edwards would be certainties barring an injury sustained tomorrow.

Semi Radradra (replacing just about anyone in the backline) and Pat O'Hanlon (for Wynn/Howard) should be eligible and will certainly boost the team.

Luke Kelly, Ben Roberts and Junior Paulo have all played a handful of games but I doubt they would qualify.

Pewhairangi is listed as out indefinitely on the Rd.26 injury report and I'm not sure what is the status of Brayden Wiliame but either would be a boon if they were healthy.
