Great break from Pewhairangi as he slides through the Newcastle line.

There isn't any support in range so he takes the tackle. Damn good run though.

Wenty imitate Newcastle and immediately spin it to the other side and Morgan has a chance to put Faraimo away but doesn't claim the ball on his first attempt and thus lets the defence shut him down.

The Magpies keep attacking through the rest of the set but Newcastle scramble well and bring up the fifth tackle. Wenty try to roll it in goals near the posts but the Newcastle fullback is perfectly positioned and looks to counterattack. He links up with Brayden Wiliame who promptly drops the ball as the siren rings out.

Half Time

Wenty lead Newcastle 22-16

We switched off in the second part of that half.

If we come out and play how we started the game we should win by 20

Junior Paulo was awesome in his opening stint, throwing away Newcastle defenders with impunity while Pewhairangi has looked dangerous with the ball in hand and in support.

Some sloppy defence let Newcastle back into the game and Wenty will be ruing going into the sheds at half time with only a six point lead.

Alvaro and Ualesi take the early hit ups before Lasalo and Paulo nearly break the Knights open with their carries.

Kelly bombs it on the last but Morgan is unable to trap the fullback and Newcastle pinch 20m.

They look very compressed in attack though as Wenty easily mark up on their hit-ups.

Dobson bombs Hunt on the last tackle but there is no pressure from the kick chase and he takes it with ease.

Wenty panic on their last tackle as Kelly fires a cut-out ball to his left. Ma'afu fields it and quickly tries to offload the ball, for fear of getting tackled.

His offload trickles along the ground and is flicked to Goodall by Toutai but the pass traveled forwards and Newcastle get the ball.

The Knights look to attack Wenty's right-edge for the duration of their set and once again catch Wenty napping at dummy half as they dive over and score once more.

Mantellato adds the two points.

Newcastle lock the game up at 22-all

It is Newcastle's turn to panic on the last as they too look lost in trying to find a kick.

They eventually get one away but Hunt takes it without a problem.

Kelly takes the kick on the last, after a solid set and sends a towering bomb up. The Newcastle fullback looked in trouble while under it and does indeed drop it but the ref rules that it traveled backwards.

Ualesi runs a superb angle and breaks through the line and follows that up with a great offload to Hunt who surges infield towards the try line. He beats several defenders as he heads towards the posts and links up with Pewhairangi who takes the tackle 5m out.

Kelly screams for the ball on the next play and gets it. He rips a quick cut out ball to Toutai who pirouettes as he takes the ball, beating Mantalleto and scoring out wide.

Kelly misses the conversion.

Wenty retake the lead 26-22

Alvaro and Paulo build some early momentum in the kickoff set before Wenty come to their left to no avail.

Kelly has an eon of time to kick on the last and once again chooses to bomb the fullback.

No one from Newcastle is interested in taking it and they get a fortuitous bounce to regain possession.

Newcastle complete a no frills set but go to sleep when it is their turn to defend.

Fabian Goodall takes an early hit-up, relieving his forwards but before Newcastle can bring him down he is able to slip a ball to Hunt who is lurking in support.

No one from Newcastle had any clue that the offload happened and Hunt simply runs through a yawning gap as he races 80m to score untouched.

Incredibly poor stuff from the Knights there.

Kelly adds the extras from in front.

Wenty lead Newcastle 32-33

57min gone.

Heads up footy from Ma'afu as he makes a 1-on-1 steal on Newcastle's last tackle.

Toutai takes a hit-up from the turnover and fights his way through into a gap. He finds Kelly in support who commits the fullback and hits Hunt for yet another try.

Too easy for Wenty as they open up the Knights almost at will that set.

Kelly hits the conversion from in front once more.

Wenty lead 38-22

Gee this game seems a bit one sided for a top of the table clash ..........

Ordinary set from Wenty ends in another Kelly Bomb. It is well taken by the Newcastle winger but the kick chase from the Magpies quickly pins him down.

Great work from Fabian Goodall as he picks up the scraps from Newcastle and sprints towards their try line.

He beats the initial cover defence before offloading to Pewhairangi who unfortunately loses it in the following tackle.

Newcastle quickly turn the ball over and compound the issue by giving away a penalty.
