Although i have culled a few our DVD collection at home, i still want a hard copies of certain movies i can just put on when i feel like watching them and not being at the mercy of streaming services which don't always have what i want to watch.

When you fall offside with your crew, as John Dykstra did with Battlestar Galactica, this is what can occur. Dykstra was one of the movers and shakers with the original Star Wars and then left ILM to start his own company Apogee. They did the FX for Galactica. The city lights during the Cylon attack on Caprica contained this message.

I remember going through the bonus features on the DVD of Final Destination 2. The director wanted to use practical effects as much as possible, so seeing mannequins etc. filled with pig guts, squibs and what-not was pretty cool to see.

I've converted everything and setup a plex server. It's like Netflix, but it has my movies. All the posters etc on it. It's free if you want to just set it up for your house. But a lifetime pass is like $100 and it then lets you watch it anywhere, plus you can share it with others.

I have approx 1500 movies and who knows how many TV shows. You can set it up to download all the extras and trailers etc. Well worth the investment. I'm running it on and old 2012 PC which more than adequately services 4 others who use it.

Just get a decent video card. And by decent something like $50 worth cause it will do all the encoding for you. Nothing special. But you don't want the CPU doing that when something cheap will do it better.

Great old school horror movie Jim. The puppet used is so insane due to the manpower that was required. Love these EFX.

Sat down with my 11 YO daughter and watched this classic during the current holidays. Will always have a place in my memories from back in the day. The FX IMHO were awesome. Even rode the old ET ride more than once at Universal Hollywood before Universal desecrated it.

I managed to get my hands on that mask. I bought it from a gift shop inside Disneyland of all places.
