One Ref

Basically if you commit a ruck infringement you play advantage, so it's tackle three and Cameron Smith does a Cameron Smith, tackle count resets to one. This is effectively the rugby league equivalent to the short arm advantage in rugby union.

And if your 1 pt behind 10 sec on the clock under posts and a ruck penalty is blown ?

Can I kick for goal ?

Now I'm confused

Referees will retain the right to issue a full penalty and place players in the sin bin for persistent ruck infringements and professional fouls.

I'm thinking the only way it can work, someone infringes referee calls advantage and signals six again. If you pick it up and run with it the tackle count restarts, if you leave it you get a full penalty. Doesn't seem very well thought out.

I reckon you will get a huge number of Slater style sin bins when the player taps it and runs at the ruck penalty infringing

As they have no time to retire 10m

There is no tap, there is no penalty. Team infringes and 6 again is ruled and play continues.

We know 4 infringements is a sin bin

So 3 will have to be a penalty

So will 2 be a penalty or just 6 to go ie 3rd set in a row

Inside the 30m zone better give away a ruck penalty and slow the play the ball down not just slightly but now in a big way

Referees will be tested on how far can players bend the rules before it becomes a penalty

I have always thought one ref was better than two I never saw any benefit of a second ref and it created the debacle from last year's gf but it seems far fetched to change it now. From the start of 2021 would be ok.

As for the other rule I hope it makes things better not worse I am a little worried about the change.

Very happy.

Not as if 2 refs was any better, was still a bucketload of wrestling and they were brought in to take it out, if that wasn't happening what's the point!

Don't mind the 6 again, will stop teams like the Roosters just giving penalty after penalty on their own line and resetting their defence.

Benefit of the doubt to the attacking, I like the sound of this more than bringing back continuous live rucks, IMO the attacking player should have to punch or kick an opponent for a change of possession. It should be guaranteed that teams finish their set of 6, IMO even if it's a knock-on or a forward pass it should count as a tackle NOT a scrum to the opposition.

Don’t have an issue with going back to one ref. It’s not like the game was noticeably better with two refs. The ruck/wrestle was sh*t with one ref and was still sh*t with two.
