I am sorry but you can't set a precedent like that, it would be a free for all. E G. A kid shows talent at the Broncos and a sleazy manager gets him a better deal at the Storm, he can walk out because his uncle's nephews cousin, blah blah is going to fall of the perch. Don't think so. If he has got the shits with the world, take it out on his manager. He was was the moron who told him to sign. Don't go whinging to to the club that has supported him and developed him.
I agree with a lot of what you are saying, however I'm looking at this circumstantially.
If Saab was killing it I'd be fighting to keep him, but he looks totally disinterested and is playing rather ordinary (he lost his spot to JP after 2 games) his attitude can't be good for morale. Meanwhile we have Sailor looking for a release because a guy who wants out is being picked ahead of him. Sailor can play just about every position in the backline losing him would be a very big loss.
If we force Saab to see his contract through he could very well just leave at the end of end of anyway then we have lost not 1 but 2 young talents.
Now I do agree that it sets an ugly precedent but our CEO / board need to learn to play hardball let's say for example he wants to go to Souths we should be negotiating for a swap i.e. Gagai, Johnston etc. Until the deal comes through Saab can linger in reserves (not this season obviously) but like I said I agree with you in a lot of ways if McInnes wanted a release I would be offering the kitchen sink to keep but a young unproven kid with a lousy attitude in this instance it's not worth the fight.
