There's no point. That ship has sailed. He should just content himself with being the first captain to lead a side to back to back NRL premierships.

:p Dessy Hasler for PM :)

Based on form, Stewart deserves the fullback's position - but I guess these positions (AUS) aren't decided on form, which is f*cked. Kite will be in the front row, and Glenn Stewart is my bolter for a bench spot.

All are in great form and would deserve their spot if picked ;-)

I agree with your sentiments, but WTF for the centenary test this year. brett stewart was encumbent but slater was in better form (and stewart wasnt in bad form either, just slater was in sensational form) and was rightly picked. if stewert doesnt get it now then its bull. also glenn stewert should be starting in the backrow not off the bench. even with hoffman and mason still fit and bird eligible he should start, who will play there ahead of him? gallen is a certainty, bird would be a certainty. then its a toss up between mason (who can be used as an impact player, more so then the others), johnson (who has an equal or maybe slightly beter workrate than stewart but offers little in attack), hoffman and stewart. out of those, on form throuhgout the year, you would have to say stewart gets there.

Lyon should not be even considered for teh Aussie team. Turned his back on NSW and rep football then he forfeits his right to play.
Stewart will be a start in the Aussie team if he is not injured. Slater will not even get a look in. The Aussie squad will have Hunt and Gidley in there so I don't think another specialist fullback is needed (Gidley will be used as a utility player and end up in hooker more I think). Glen Stewart will get sellection as well as Kite. Choc I am not too sure will be considered. Bolter could be Picker from Canberra?

Have a look at origin 3. Gildey was NSW best by a mile. You cannot justify playing him off the bench.

Jennings and Hayne look like another Gasnier/Turner disaster. Both are weak defensively and QLD are going to go down that side all night.

And Brett Stewart was clearly NSW's best in the first 2 games (hell, he was the only player on the field in the second). And remember, Gidley did have his club hooker there in Bedsy, which helped no end, and for all his 'brilliance' we still struggled to put on points.

Talk about selective attention (I cant remember how to say that properly). You tell me to have a look at origin 3 and say how good he was (he was quite good btw), but you just ignore origin 2 when stewart was the blues best. Why was he dropped? It was bullsh*t. I put gidley there to satisfy all those who would call for him because he is usually in good form but if I 'cannnot justify playing him off the bench' (and I can, there needs to be a utility) then I'm sorry but I would pick stewart and leave gidley out.

Tell me jennings is not in the top 3 at least of nsw centres. Cooper, maybe lyon but he wont play, Hayne? hes average at centre from what Ive seen. best? well on this years form yes, but he could play wing as well. if his form is not up to scratch then he wont make it, and this was the only year when he was really on fire.Monnas, yes probably.

the blues have struggled to score points recently, jennings can provide them.

and turner is crap and should have been nowhere near the jersey.

I didnt say he was a weak defender, I said he was an average centre from what Ive seen. Hayne will be on the wing for sure, the selectors love him. Centre spots are open.
