The penalties in American sport seem a lot less harsher then here. Hedo Turkoglu an NBA player was suspended for only over a month for testing positive for steroids. Here atheltes are facing up to 2 years for using shitty ineffective peptides, seriously these drugs hardly do shit and from the teams that were reportedly using it we can see it didn't bring them an advantage. This whole investigation should of scared any athletes experimenting with these innefective drugs and even harder drugs. ASADA just need to drop this shit and move on because it's helping no one.

Alex Rodriguez, baseball's highest-paid player in the United States and one of the sport's greatest hitters, has been suspended for a record 211 games for doping offences.
The suspension was the biggest action taken so far against doping by baseball officials, as another 12 players were handed 50-game suspensions.
They were banned for using testosterone or human growth hormone following a long investigation into links between top players and a Florida clinic accused of supplying performance enhancing drugs.

Wow now that is a ban!
I suspect that any club or player getting found guilty in the AFL /NRL will just get a token punishment and nothing like the above despite the damage they have done to our sport.

That would only be like 15 months or something. Wendel got more than that and he was just snorting shit.

why are media harassing them?

not one Essendon player was ever filmed going to an interview

It hardly seemed like Stapleton was being HARESSED, and it is one of the biggest media stories of the year, and the biggests "sports" story in a number of years, hence the media interest.

Where exactly are the Cronulla interviews being held? I believe (but could be wrong) that the Essendon interviews were held at the their massive Windy Hill complex. I'd suspect that the players being interviewed would have just blended in with the rest of the team coming and going from the complex. You seem pretty sure no one was ever filmed though El D.

They should be confidential and in an undisclosed location. In fact they should be at Shark park or NRL HQ and the media have no idea. Asada has more leakes than a Indonesian fishing boat.

Shane Charter was the only one they ever filmed

they left the players alone

Stapleton would have been bombarded with questions from 7

And apparently Stapleton was subjected to Chinrse water torture in an effort to get info out of him about PED use, whilst the Essendon players were only asked whether they wanted milk in their tea.

Hey I like this "making shit up" thing that you do when you dont actually know the facts El D. I'll have to try it more often in the future.

The real issue is these USA sports are not covered by the WADA and let blatant steriod drug users off cheaply.

I personally believe that the WADA code is more appropriate for drug cheats in sport (although I believe 4 years is more appropriate).

The interesting bit will be if their evidence of Thymosin Beta 4 use holds up as I assume they will have similar evidence for the Sharks. If Essendon players get suspended for Thymosin then I would bet on Sharks players getting suspended too.

It's unfortunate and the players are victims in that they wouldn't have purposely cheated but they have to be suspended. If not it will just mean teams around the world will dope and if caught blame a fall guy to avoid player suspensions

FFS can people get over this "the poor innocent" players bullshit?

They knew what they were taking - they signed f**king forms to prove it. And despite what people like to think footy players aren't all brainless man children just doing what daddy/coach tells them. Most of them would know much more about sports science than anyone on this forum, and all of them are perfectly capable of using google.

Providing they were told what they were being injected with (as the Essendon players clearly were) then the only way they could not know it was illegal is from being deliberately ignorant and not seeking out any information or opinion.

We all laughed our arses off when Shane Warne came up with his pathetic "mummy told me it was ok" excuse when he got done. What has happened to the sporting public between then and now to actually start swallowing such tripe?
