El Busted, you need to get your left side head talking to your right side head. You know that is not the case for reasons clearly stated above.

See Maximus's post.
If you say so maggie. Maybe everything is getting lost in the translation but I am agreeing with Maximus.

But surely they could have only tarnished the image of the game if they had done something wrong, and if what they have done wrong is give illegal drugs to their players then how can their be no evidence?

Hird I can understand as he ahs admitted taking a banned players substance even though it is unclear if it is banned for a coach but how can the others be proved to have done something wrong that has tarnished the image?

Maybe Asada have fessed up there isn't enough evidence to charge the players but they know poor practices have occured?

Dude, you have jumped to so many assumptions. No evidence has been provided to the public; I doubt it has much to do with Hird's vanity.

There are no rules, in either the WADA or AFL code, against coaches taking banned drugs.

I'll say it again, there could be no charges laid against players today for taking banned drugs. There had been no infraction notices issued, and no names in the report (for legal reasons), so no players could be charged for PED use.

At this stage all that we know is that there is no evidence against individual players in the interim report. This does not mean that ASADA have no evidence. All that it means is that at the time of releasing that report, they were not prepared to issue infraction notices.

Also, while they may have been a result of the ASADA investigation, these punishments are solely under the afl code of conduct. They have nothing at all to do with ASADA or WADA.

On the morning the charges were announced he [Hird] claimed his players had taken no performance-enhancing or harmful substances and pointed to the fact the ASADA summary was an ''interim report''.

But this works two ways. The bad news for the Essendon players is that there remains no guarantee that infraction notices will not be served. Despite the fact ASADA believes it has enough evidence to move on players, it is waiting to continue investigating Essendon's program under new legislative powers.

No problems with that, but the AFL bit gets messy in that ignorance is no defence for WADA. That is why I think this has a long, long way to go.

I think we are generally agreeing with each other to be honest.
Yep.

I think as clubs Cronulla and Manly and anyone else will be safe, but Essendon is (obviously) now in the poo.

As players, I think any league players that kept up a user-supplier relationship with Dank after he left their clubs will be odds-on to all be facing 6-month-to-2-year suspensions, and the jury's out on the Essendon players (maybe get away with it if the club takes the fall, or maybe get the reduced 6-month suspensions due to the club system/assurances).

Still Long Way To Go

Interim Report
= About The Club & Officials

Final Report = About The Players (Infractions or No
Infractions)

An Essendon player has admitted to taking that banned 'fat drug'. WADA is watching this whole thing closely. An league player who had anything to do with that witch doctor sports 'scientist' should be concerned.

Keep in mind that The Melbourne Demons were found not guilty of tanking, but were still fined heavily and their coach & operations manager suspended. Not guilty doesn't necessarily mean no action, and vice versa.

Yeah that's going to be the weird thing about punishing Hird etc, it will be for "management failures" rather than doping up the team. Just like Melbourne didn't lose games deliberately. I still think players will get banned eventually, this action is just about making sure essendon don't play in the finals.
