They had better wait to find out if they have a problem first! All they have been told is by Asada that there were no postive test results. Then Asada have come out and said the evidence is not based on positive test results. No one has been cleared yet.

NORTH Queensland CEO Peter Jourdain says the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority has informed him that the team has no case to answer in the Australian Crime Commission doping probe.
Jourdain said ASADA told the club they will not be party to a sweeping investigation involving up to 150 NRL and AFL identities.

Derp!

No mention of test results, the Cowboys CEO claimed this "I have spoken to ASADA and they have assured me verbally that that's all they require from us. We are not in the 150 people they are talking about being interviewed.

As for suing, as stated numerous times there is nothing that they could legitimately sue for.

I agree that its been a bit poorly handled, but that's not a offence under law.

If there was any suing to be done it would be of various media outlets making false accusations, but they have been very careful to avoid identifying anyone clearly.

I'm glad the club is cleared would of being a dark cloud looming over the season if they were knee deep in it but there not. So 1 club out of the fire, 5 clubs currently getting grilled could be very long season for some but as whole I hope we can all get by this.

I was assuming they were following some other clubs who had stated that Asada had told them there had been no postive tests and then had come out and said we are clean. the fact Asada came out last night and said their evidence was not based on tests would suggest that clubs who are making that claim may be jumping the gun.

jumping the gun?

the clubs saying that are only saying what ASADA told them. if it is a pointless thing to say then ASADA should told them that

this whole thing has been handled atrociously by the government, ASADA and the ACC

but Asada never said they are in the clear they have said told some there has been no positive results, which they clarified last night as not meaning they are in the clear. At the moment it looks like only the cowboys have been cleared of the 6 named?

and ASADA should not have even told them that if they think it means diddly

A point to note about testing and clubs coming out saying that none of their players have tested positive to PED's etc. In recent years one third athletes caught by ASADA for doping violations NEVER returned a positive drug test and that action was taken based on intelligence.

There is a long way to go with this.

But two thirds did.

So far, in this investigative fiasco, zero positive tests have been returned.

So far ASADA have been a-holes and have been on the fishing trip of a life time. This is a bloody joke. These guys are releasing press releases obviously trying to get some reaction and some actual evidence.

Getting mighty pissed off with this.

Both codes are victims here.

I feel sorry for every other sport more, the way they came out swinging with a Black day for Australian Sport it tarred every sport in the country. IF no charges are laid, if no player is banned, if no club is found to have any case to answer then I totally agree. Probably too early to say we are a victim yet.

I did not say we are victims. I am saying the process is bull shit. This is a clear case of flaming for a response.

If they had anything at all they would be on the front foot or saying nothing.

This is a fishing exercise. And they are hunting down the big codes for publicity reasons.

Mate, either you don't read or you refuse to believe - ASADA has stated they intend to interview up to 150-200 professional sportspersons or their associates and believe they will recommend bans for between 70-80.

They never said the investigation would be over quickly, they needed the public report released before they could move forward.

You might not like it, but I don't like cheats especially in sports.

bullshit

and even if they did they should have waited till arrests, interviews and whatever else were just about to be done

even WADA think it's dodgy http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-02-13/fahey-hits-out-at-acc-approach/4515700

Fahey also said he was still not convinced that the ACC had to release details at this stage of its investigation - saying that the publicity was causing unnecessary suspicion and doubt.

"I'm not sure this approach to it is the right way to go. I was looking for a good reason. I'm not sure I've heard a good reason yet."

I can read actually. And rather than take these guys at their word I prefer to try and see where they are coming from.

In my opinion, and that is all it is, ASADA have taken a particularly nasty approach here, maligning whole codes of football in an effort to discover some evidence to justify their 'blackest day in Australian Sport' hype.

I am not stupid enough to think there is not a bit of smoke here. But I aso happen to believe this is a massive beat up by a bunch of enthusiastic investigaors hoping to justify a media circus that is spiralling a bit out of their control.

I might be wrong.

So far I am not.
