Not saying he didnt use peptides at Manly, but it is entirely possible to believe that he didn't use them since they were somewhat of an unknown quantity during his time at Manly and also the Manly club have come out and have confidently denied that peptides were ever used by Dank at least within the clubs knowledge.

Entirely plausible.

However when you get an email chain from 'The Professional' to ASADA official saying 'Check out the Manly boys this year', you'd have to think they were also pushing the boundaries, whether that be legal or illegal.

I think this is a systemic thing in the NRL with sports science to push as close as possible to the edge of what is / isn't banned.

Not really a surprise, look at the size of the athletes these days and their ability to back up and back up and back up and back up.

They only get that way eating their greens right?

I've got no doubt that it's systemic in the NRL just as it is in the AFL and basically every major sports code worldwide. So many of these things are undetectable and that's if they even know what to look for. I've got no idea if testing will ever catch up but if it does i think we will see almost all major sports having a cycling like meltdown in terms of catching people. Well except for the ones like soccer and NFL that will continue to try and hide the substance abuses.

This is a breach of the NRL's codes of conduct etc.

ASADA yet to finalise their investigation.

600k fine................................................when you're broke and had your coach supended. Lots of leverage for the body essentailly paying your way to force your hand pretty quickly.

I saw an article relating to the fact that Sharp only wanted to be made head coach in the interim if their plans were to then extend him and not re-instate Flanno.

However, I'm not sure how much i believe that, as Sharp has always insinuated he didn't want another head coaching job.

See what happens i suppose.

Would make sense hiring someone like BK for a year, he wouldn't cost much at all, from his point of view he would get to show the rest of the NRL what he could do in the head role etc.

But it does reek a bit of desperation if we were to do that.

Your basically pissing away the most talented roster with most at their peak you'll have for a decade by that logic.

Be interesting to know what exactly part of the code you refer to and why you feel its a breach.

From reading the actual NRL statement these are provisional charges and the Sharks have been given a right of reply.

Is Ronnie saying he feels it's a breach, or is he offering an explanation as to what drove the announcements today from the ARLC?

I suspect the latter.

I understand that a fine of $1 million is the maximum the NRL can raise against the sharks but it does seem a small amount given the crap they have caused for the rugby league brand.

Only fining them $600,000 up front is on the low side too. The sharks board surley don't need to be forced into doing the right thing by the NRL.

So going by that press conference ( btw why can't we get an Aussie to do that job)
If you get a bloke without an injection lic to inject then you cop a 1 mil fine and
coach and fake nurse get banned?

It can't be about the actual drug type because they said they didn't know what ElephantJuice were getting injected.

I just read sharks are appealing.
I would too.

They can't appeal as the decision/s are preliminary, they can respond. After a final decision (handed down by the CEO), they can appeal to a (supposedly) independent panel.
