If Kennedy was the one who wanted out of his contract and approached the Broncos asking for release, the Broncos would have no obligation to pay him a termination fee unless there was one stipulated in his contract.
Had it been the other way around, that is that the Broncos decided to cut him, they would either have had to pay Kennedy out the full amount for the remaining year on his contract unless they negotiated a smaller fee for the payout that Kennedy agreed to.
Don't forget, before Kennedy decided to go to the Broncos, he had set up a snake breeding business which was based here in NSW which was doing decent business.
As such you can be sceptical all you want but on this point I think Kiwi is correct.
