Bingo .

This line is the biggest load of crap I read in that article.

.

During this whole saga player concern was not an issue .
Protecting the Image
Protecting the club .
Trying to sweep the problem under the rug .
Limiting the damage .

Everything was about the afl & the club .

And this is a perfect illustration of the easy ride that AFL gets in the media. They don't question what they're fed by the AFL spin department (otherwise known as "The AFL"), they put the best possible sheen on the worst news etc.

Ask yourselves could you see the NRL getting anything like the same treatment?

Isn't the case against the Sharks closed and finalised. WADA wasn't happy with the penalties handed down to the Sharks players by ASADA, but they accepted them. (Is that correct?)

If so, then why or how could WADA come after the Sharks. They aren't going to go back on their word.

Chips is a deadset f**king wanker who just keeps getting worse and worse.

This goose is referring to the 5 players not in the NRL when the deal was done with the NRL players.

There's only 1 (Aiton) still contracted os and another (Pom) who isn't but maybe is looking to be.

I reckon ASADA just focused its attention where it needed to be. If the NRL players got discounts for being stuffed around with undue delays then surely these guys have an even better case. But it's probably only Aiton who gives any sort of a stuff.

It is hardly a WADA is coming after the NRL scenario. It's got absolute zero impact on the NRL.

I'd still like to know why Jason Clare can keep the evidence of organised crime involvement and evidence of match fixing secret.

Claims the AFL sought a pragmatic early solution to the Essendon drama in the first half of 2013 were denied by CEO Gillon McLachlan on Tuesday night's AFL 360. Yet Aurora Andruska, the CEO of the Australian Anti-Doping Authority through the first 15 months of the saga, is on record as saying: "Their [the AFL's] objectives and ASADA's objectives are almost at odds with each other's. They are about protecting their business, protecting their brand." Andruska, it should be pointed out, was specifically lauded by Justice John Middleton of the Federal Court, in September 2014, as a "truthful witness".

The AFL is a cult. Worshipped by morons.

The Melbourne "establishment" are Tory arseholes. Hilarious they thought they were so big and untouchable they could stand over ASADA and in turn, WADA.

i hope they break away. No more govt $$$$'s.

Been a great week for Rugby League.

at this stage, what the AFL, Essendon Club, Hird and the Essendon players all have in common is a lack of a scapegoat.

With Dank out of the picture, all parties are trying to dump this elsewhere instead of accepting the punnishment, but they only have each other to blame.

Watch for some barely heard of person, possibly never before mentioned in this whole scandal, to be brought forward and hung out to dry with all this shit on him.

JAMES Hird says while sports scientist Stephen Dank and high performance chief Dean Robinson made ?large mistakes?, part of the blame for the Essendon scandal should be shared by club doctor Bruce Reid.
?We all should have done more and Bruce would admit he should have done more as well,? the former Essendon coach said in an interview on ABC television last night.
Asked at what point he thought Dr Reid, who remains at the club, should have taken more responsibility, Hird did not answer directly.
?I don?t think Bruce should have to leave the Essendon Football Club,? Hird said.
?Bruce?s primary concern at all times is the welfare of players. Bruce is a very, very good man.
?I think he has paid a price - not the price that the players have paid - the players have paid the ultimate price for this and their careers, a lot of them, are either ruined or they have gone back a long way.
?I don?t know whether Bruce has taken enough responsibility or not. That is something you will have to ask Bruce but I do know that he has worn a lot of criticism for this.?

Here's two questions I would have liked Tracey to have put to Hird.......How did the AFL find out, before Essendon did, that Essendon were being administered banned substances and when ASADA asked the players if they were taking any substances at all none of them mentioned that they were being injected.

The fact she didn't ask any difficult questions simply made her bias obvious. It was a pissweak attempt at journalism, and simply highlighted by omission the faults made and the obvious guilt.

It's the abc.

Supposedly independent and not beholden to vicky kicky house, but certainly proving that it wants to be.

As long as the likes of Gerrard 'this is a paid advertisement' Whatley is there and those like him, this won't change.

Cardy and sense, you do realise that what you have both suggested is conspiratorial. I suppose we will probably never know the full truth of what went on.

There's too much smoke there mate, and its not hiding upstanding conduct and people following the code they'd signed up for.

The vfl wanted this buried and forgotten yesterday, and it simply won't happen for the entire 2016season.

The AFL is an immoral organisation founded on a pile of bullshit and run by a pack of miserable shit stains. Its supporters range from cultist f**ktards right down to the ignorantly oblivious.

This is just one heinous act that got reported out of the many that have been swept under the carpet over the years.

The NRL might shoot itself in the foot repeatedly but the AFL sold its soul years ago.

Bring on the player lawsuits!

The only reason it wasn't swept under the carpet is because ultimately a global organisation that has barely heard of the AFL has told them to get nicked..

If the issue had of been otherwise confined to Australia, they would have succeeded with their sweeping...

Correct.

If ASADA didn't have WADA backing and had to rely only on the Australian Government to assist it then this would have all been swept under the carpet long ago.

Doesn't matter which side was in power, labor or liberal, both would have realised that they would have been signing a death warrant in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania by opposing the AFL and that they couldn't win an election without those states.

Sad that it has come to this and people are so wrapped up in a shit sport that it would influence who actually runs a country, but you are kidding yourself if you think that the AFL don't have that sort of political influence.

Thank goodness an organisation such as WADA exists.

A federal labor or liberal government would have rolled over quicker than a no legged dog had the AFL brought any sort of pressure to bear on it.

Case in point, hasn't Shorten stated that if elected, he'll give the drug-friendly code taxpayer money no matter what?

Probably. You could just about fit his entire supporter base in a phone box. He is desperate for any sort of leg up he can get.

Don't kid yourself though. The other mob would sell its soul as well if it thought it would win them an election.

It's what politicians do.
